After a month of waiting, a dealer rep finally made it to my dealership and I had half an hour to get my truck onsite before he left.

The rep drove it and confirmed it was the torque converter and the dealership is supposed to schedule a replacement date.

Progress at least!

The only progress you made, was to get the TQ replaced by the same garbage TQ thats already in your truck.
Chrysler has done nothing to actually fix the problem with them, so consider it a band-aid and the problem will be back.

Got a new 2011, 4.7, crew. When we drove it off the lot noticed when cruising 40+mph and a rpm just at 1k, when you would start to give it gas taking it to 1300 rpm it would start what is described above or what sounds like a locked caliper. Very low noise, but repeatable. Though it might just need breaking in so gave it a month and 5000 miles. To no avail, Took it in to the dealer, made to tech ride with me, he hear it and said it wasn't right. They replaced the cat converter, saying that was it. It wasn't. Taking it back Monday. If they all do it there is a massive recall on the way, because it's not right and sounds like metal on metal. I had an 2002 Ram that did no such thing and no way R&D would have let that "pass". I hate most dealers, no troubleshooters, full of kids with no experince, if the computer can't tell them what's wrong they haven't got a clue. Any advice or suggestions? After reading more of these I'm scared, if it's the TQ, I'll starting working under my states lemon laws...

Default Update

Went to another dealer on Friday, much better place. They did a ride along, heard the same thing, frist said it was MDS and normal, then I told him it wasn't a HEMI. NO MDS... Then things started going in the right direction, he ssaid the sound wasn't right. Talked to the tranny guy and they want me to bring it in on Wednesday. They ensured all software updates were done, didn't help but aleast I feel like we are on the right track.

I don't think anything will happen until chrysler decides to take action and replace every single TQ on the market, and I assume that would be big time money for dodge. As far as this goes we can almost say everyone experiences this problem and like someone said before they might look at it this and that, in the end they replace ur TQ with the same problematic TQ. I've had mine replaced about 6 months ago and still does the same sound, I'm actually used to it now unless I start thinking about it.

I am taking mine in on Tuesday to have the TC replaced by the dealer. I had them order the "Star Case" part as that has been reported to not have the same defect as the stock part.

Will let you know how it goes!

Just got my truck back from the dealer and the noise is completely gone. Looks like the "Star Case" gets the right replacement part.

My dealer had another he showed me that had the same symptoms and I told him that was pretty much the same thing. Maybe it's not as widespread as we think and the dealers and dealer reps just need to get their feet wet with it?

Don't give up!

Default Dropped it off yesterday

Went to the dealer and as soon as I pulled in they said they were going to replace the TQ and already had it in. Asked about the "star" TQ, they explained it as a revision oif a part, didn't get the warm and fuzzies, but they said they would look into it. Didn't push too hard as this is one of the best dealership service depts I been to in a while, can't complain til they screw up. Said they would have it back to me today, which again was impressive. Finger crossed, otherwise for what I paid I love the truck. Will update

Why not go back and ask a different dealership? It's a pain but worth it to get it fixed and it will make it that much easier for the guy behind you. It takes a village to fix a truck.
