Mine only whined while decelerating. It didn't matter what gear i was in. When i let off the gas it would start whining. When the mechanics were looking at the truck on the rack they mentioned some nut being still being present and that it must have not been torqued right. I don't know if that means they F'ed up when they serviced the rear end when i was buying the truck or it came from the factory with the loose part. The mechanics gave each other one of those big eyeball looks like something was fishy. Maybe they had seen this before?

The truck will be ready tomorrow hopefully. I will pry more into what happened when I pick it up.

I sure hope chrysler is following these forums, and see the mistake they are making by not recalling these differentials. I highly concider this issue a real bad SAFETY ISSUE..! They`ll wait until somebody gets killed by a flying driveshaft from a busted rearend before they do anything about it. And they wonder why they`re going broke all the time, especially when they turn their backs on the problem only to be sued for it later on and then end up looseing tons more money and customers rather than step up and FIX THE PROBLEM to begin with...! Quanity vs Quality....which would YOU rather have if you owned your own company.

Like another person said in here, and i agree, makes me wonder how many people aren`t on the forums that are having/reporting this problem. I will take the bet that ther is ALOT more trucks out there than any of us know about that are ridin around on bad differentials not knowing they could be headed for a very bad accident.

CHRYSLER, STEP UP AND FIX THE PROBLEM...!!!!!!
YOU KNOWWWWWW THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE, SO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT...!
THE MORE TIME THAT GOES BY ARE CUSTOMERS THAT WONT BUY ANOTHER DODGE..!
TURNING YOUR BACK ON THE CUSTOMER IS WHY YOU`RE IN LAST PLACE FOR SALES...!

They probably have that letter ready to copy paste. Where did you send that through? Online?. I wouldn't mind sending them a lil message myself, I'd also bet I'd get the exact word per word letter like yours!

I logged into the owners section of ramtrucks.com and then clicked on "customer assistance" under the "contact us" section. When you go there it gives a link to email them.

It will be interesting to see if anyone gets the same reply.

Yeah, they stepped right up and took care of you with a I`M SORRY response, didnt they.
That response would send me right over to another brand of vehicle.
I would write them back saying that i was sorry for spending my hard earned money on your product.

I`ve pretty much decided DODGE will not get anymore money from me. I`ve been a loyal dodge guy for many years, its time to walk away and buy just used beaters again and run them into the ground like i use too yrs ago. For what i paid for this new truck, it`s more than double for what i spent on used junkers my whole life, that got me from point A to point B without problems. Sometimes less is more...!!!

And it's not just the way they handle the warranties, it's how they lie about not ever seeing any of these rearend failures come in for repair when you mention it. If you think about it, we bail Chrysler out, and then sales pick up so the beer drinking pot smoking on the job union (they were caught at two different plants a few months appart) gets their commisions and raises and the 2012 vehicles skyrocket to cover it. Then Chrysler intentionally missleads everyone in commercials with this new six speed transmission knowing damn well it's still the same old 5 speed hp sucking gear ratio that was in the previous trucks. The only real new six speed is the 66RFE. If you ask a salesman about the trans he'll tell you he knows nothing about it...they're played stupid by Chrysler. I had to school the trans tech at my dealership, he honestly knew nothing about it. When I went to Ford about the new stang, they told me and showed me the car specs in detail and even offered the how to supercharger upgrade. He sat in the car and showed me the functions and new tech. You ask a Chrylser sales rep anything and they can't even show you how to use the radio. So that brings us to the next issue...just who is working on these repairs? And as for mechanical warranties, the are rebuilding instead of replacing. If my engine were to throw a rod, they had better replace the motor, not just the rod. But according to them, they said they will just repair it if it ever happens. My mods are going in soon anyway and my warranty will be voided. But it's the thought of watching everyone go through all of this that urkes me. Chrysler is dishonest, they are missleading people, and they are not living up to their part of the bargain that was quoted to us at purchace, just like they did back in the 70's and 80's. I'll buy a used one, but it'll be a long time if ever before I purchase another new one. I'm hoping sales will drop so they'll be forced to clean up their act...till then, f...em!
