I don't know if its a 1 ohm resistor, but it definitely needs to be the resistance of the stock bulb. I had the same issue on my 07, all I did was just wrap the old bulb in some heat resistant tape and added the LED in. Cheap but I didnt have the right ohm resistor on hand.

LEDs have no resistance, thats where the issue comes in. The system is designed to stay on and on dim if you have a bulb out. Just another way that dodge tells you a bulb is out.

I have not done an LED swap in this truck, but I do plan on putting some nice cool blue leds in each of the cab lights. Possibly find a way to switch that awful green in the overhead console.

As far as wiring those ballasts in, thats not a problem at all...just have to find where those come from, and fish some new ones in and hide the ballasts probably behind the seat is my guess...Fishtapes work wonders...

Your not the only one who hates the green overhead light haha! I want red! Thanks for the reply on the LED's, makes total sense.

Okay so I pulled the HID from my reverse light and it fits in the cargo light housing perfectly length wise. I took a few pics (I will post them in a bit). Surrounding the bulb is rubber and there is a blue rubber gasket attached, you will need to pull it off since the hole is a little smaller and it fits perfectly and snug. Also these ballasts are so small, using some double sided tape I'm pretty sure it could fit in there off to the sides. I'm going to buy another set here next week and see if I can get it to work.

Here are some of the pics I took to see if the bulbs would fit....

Remove that blue gasket...

If you remove it, it'll fit in there nicely as you can see....If you leave it, it's to big and gets crumpled up and doesn't seat properly...

Then right here, you could prob. put the ballasts in there on the inside of the body on the outer wall (if you understand lol) and I think it'd fit, but I'll let y'all know sometime next week.

Sounds like a plan...Seems like your going to get to it much faster then I will...the bulbs for me will take at least a week and a half to get here. I cant find anything reliable here in Calgary. I have found some but they are like 120 bucks! I will wait for the shipping!

Ill let you be the guinea pig then! Let me know how it goes and if it works well enough for me to spend that money! I would put it into my reverse lights, but here in alberta everything is so dusty and in the wintertime dirty...I could put the brightest bulbs known to man in there and it still would not shine through the lens. Something I think might be different with the cargo light, not as much dust and dirt there...

Also now that I am coming to think of it, what about heat? You think that the lens can handle that? I mean I know its not going to be on all the time but still seems like it could be reasonably close enough. Also is there an adjustment on those bulbs? Like to direct them more horizontal? Or are they pretty horizontal already? I can see partially with your pics, but just more curious questions for the guinea pig :P

I don't see the heat being an issue at all since these HID's only draw 15w as opposed to other kits. I've seen someone post (on another forum) and the guy had 55w HID's in them, and he said he didn't have any overheating issues and he had them on for a few minutes. I almost put a set of 35w HID's from DDM in my reverse lights, but I like this set up better. I'm sure if you left them on for 20-30 minutes you might see an issue, but I doubt it.

^^^^^

I agree 15w should not have any heat problems.

I will bud, give me to the middle/end of the week. They were closed bc of the new year, I'm guessing (so I sent them and e-mail to see if I can pick them up locally tomorrow). I don't see why there closed...it's the 2nd, everyone needs more days off but complains they don't get enough $$.

So I'll keep yah posted and I'll post pics of the install once I get them in and working!
