Dad ordered the total control kit. We'll see how it rides, then can mock up the WD hitch. Will probably be too high, though.

When we had it on the scale, we had to put the truck over some 2x12's just for the jack to go over the scale. So the deck was probably a little over horizontal (3 layers of 2x6 made the 3 degree change, figure 1 degree per layer) so a 1 layer/degree compensation probably took a touch of weight off the tongue that should have been there.

The hitch was all bound up from the chock blocks, when I firsts tarted cranking, it got up to 800 pounds and it was lifting the truck, i dont know if it was past normal ride height or not, I think I lifted it a good 1.5 inches.

Try these. especially what your towing. The P-rated 20" (that's what it looks like don't help).

hope this helps

cheers

Dad got a confirmation from Total Load Control, but that's it. Tried to call them at 5:00 our time/3:00 each coast, and he got an answering service.

What's the normal ship time? Anybody have a good contact #?

I have a 18' tandem axel car hauler that I tow behind my 2010 TRX. It does the exact same thing as this when loaded (I haul full size and small cars for demolition derbies).

I now use a weight distribution hitch and there are no problems at all. It was a great investment.

we got the TLC airbags put on...was simple other than the rear driver-side bolt.

It rides like an 18 wheeler now, even at the minimum 5psi to keep the upper brackets in the cups. Is there a way to soften it any? With dad's work stuff in it, the bags completely deflated (I presume on internal bump stops) was still 1" higher. With 5psi it's about 1.5-2 over what it was.

There are always issues when we try to max anything out. It used to be we added leaves, air shocks or overload springs which also made for a rougher ride now we have the coil springs and use airbags making the ride rough. If you can move the gear in the bed as far forward (especially the heavier items) as possible, move your car back to get your tongue weight down to around 400 to 450 pounds while utilizing a WD hitch at the optimum height for the trailer you probably won't need the bags and I guarantee you will like the way it rides and tows better. You might even try putting some of your heavier gear that doesn't need to be protected from theft or the weather, on the trailer to help adjust your tongue weight. BTW I used to work for U-Haul/Hitch World and helped a lot of people with their towing problems. Good luck and stay safe.

The ride with the car on won't be a problem. But the truck is also a DD with 300 pounds of work equipment, and having it ride softer would be nice.

The softer ride was why I was pointing out things you could try so you could tow without the airbags. The 300 or so pounds of gear shouldn't even be noticed except to help make the back-end sag if you leave it on when towing.

well the idea was that the bags deflate and thus the suspension resumes stock activity...instead, it's rock-solid even with them deflated....
