My truck fits the time frame for the recall, April 2009. I just called crysler and gave them my last 8 of vin number to check. They told me my truck has zero recalls, so I am wondering is it because mine is a 3.92 is that why it is not affected? No problems so far at 42k.

It's not because you have a 3.92 rear end because I have an ST with 3.21's.

My truck was built in Feb. 2010 which also falls under the recall time frame and I just called Chrysler and gave them the last 8 of my VIN. The lady also told me my truck has zero recalls, she said that the recall is VIN specific and not date specific as the post on page 3 from AZdave that listed the recall info from the NHTSA.

This is frustrating.

So now I am paranoid about driving the truck with my family, don't want to get into an accident with them in the truck due to a chance the axle might lock up.

They are still loading all the vins into the system that were not announced previously.

My 2009 CC w/3.55 and had 18k miles when the rear end came apart. The picture is probably somewhere on this site. I was cruising down the interstate at 75 mph, heard some whining and pulled over to the shoulder just to have the rear wheels locks up at about 20 MPH. The drive shaft dropped and there was oil all over the pavement. I filed a complaint on the fed site. Even then I said something like "don't they use locknuts or cotter pins on these things?" to the dealer. Turns out I was on the right track after all. It's been perfect since that happened but I don't know if they want me back in again as part of the recall. Just for good measure I had them change the rear end oil again at about 27k miles and asked them to inspect it figuring it was cheaper and more convenient than walking.

After reading the wording of the recall posted that was my exact thought. I haven't crawled under my truck to look but sounds like they went cheap and used a regular nut on the pinion instead of a locknut.

My 09 CC is involved in this recall and I received the letter months ago. I just spoke to customer service and they still don't have the parts. That is crazy. This is a dangerous situation that could get someone killed. How are they fixing the ones that have failed if there a NO PARTS???

Sometimes what they come up with for a solution dosent always pan out, so they have to start over with something different... it does take time. I`m sure they want to do the right thing the first time around and not have to issue a second recall for something that failed once after it was fixed once already. Be patient, they`ll get it right sooner or later. My truck howl`s like a banshee at the rear diff, i`ll drive it until it drops, and if they dont have the fix when that happens, it`ll sit until they do. I`ll just go buy another car to drive in the meen time.

I noticed your vehicle status... Vehicle: 2010 Dodge ram 1500 Sport 4x4 I have the same truck and i have the recall notice, so i`m willing to bet yours is also in the recall, they just havent gotten to your VIN number yet with their investigation. And i bet we`ll see 2011 trucks involved as well.
