RADIO and BACKUP CAMERA PROBLEM on a new 2014
Alright folks after a painstaking 3 months I have gotten mine fixed! The issue is not with the radio but the console itself inside the arm rest. The dealership pulled it out and found that there were "metal connectors" loose causing the connection issue. I had that replaced along with the wires going to the radio and the radio itself just to be sure. It's been 4 days and no issues.
This was an absolute horrible experience and may never buy a Dodge again solely based on customer experience, unfortunately/fortunately I actually really love the truck.
Hope this post helps everyone else out, replace the console, nothing else will work. Trust me!!!

Chrysler not backing up their product = I would never buy another from them. Since i am having the exact same problem at a completely different dealership then I would assume this is not just a dealership problem. I have had my Laramie 6 weeks and have had an update and then the radio replaced and it is still doing the same thing. Called the service manager today and was told i must wait until they figure it out. He said when i come in for a oil change they would see if they have found a fix then but until then I am SOL... Like he said I wouldn't buy a dodge again because of the quality.
Brand new 2014 Ram 1500 Limited. Radio frequently starts switching to Auxiliary and back to radio all by itself! It does it whether I have an iPod plugged into the Aux or not. It's happened at random times, but I noticed it seems to more frequently once I put the truck in reverse and the backup camera goes on. Glad it's not just me, I was starting to think it's electrical. Sounds to me like it's definitely software related. Very annoying and I hope it's fixed in the very near future! It's ruining my first experience with this awesome truck!
Ok so truck went in yesterday, and apparently there is a second update for the radio that they installed. After talking to the mechanic the engineers at dodge had instructed them to change the mirror. As far as their research has gone it's the mirror that is causing the radio issues. Been working good for the last 12 hours, keeping fingers crossed that it's a permanent fix

This issue makes me want to stick with the 5.0 radio that comes with the Big Horn package as I rarely see issues with it on here or other forums.
The smaller screen makes the backup camera not as useful I would think. That is really the only reason I want the 8.4 radio. I could care less about the navigation option as that is what my phone is for, and I don't travel that much to other cities.
Do you have the bucket seats or the 40/20/40 setup in your truck? The reason I am asking is I plan on ordering a new Ram Big Horn with the 40/20/40 seat next month. I am wondering if the problem is unique only to those with the full console, or does it affect all the trucks.

I have a 2014 1500 with the console and the 8 speed dial shifter on the dash so there is no shift lever in the console. I had it flashed with two updates and it fixed the issue although at temps below freezing (10 degrees or below), my defrosters seem to not want to work. It will not redirect the air from the heater to the defrosters. My buddy has a new 2013 leftover and his truck has the same issues. Bummer. Good luck!
Hi All,
Just to make sure this thread stays alive...
I purchased a 2014 RAM 1500 Sport in December of 2013. Within minutes of taking it off the lot, I had the dreaded 'Switch to Auxiliary' issue. I took it in, had the firmware updated, drove it home... same problem. Then, as others have stated, I had the issue where my stereo would not shut off, and I had to disco my battery.
Fast forward to last week, and after 4 weeks of waiting, I had the radio replaced... Same problem.
It's not the firmware guys. It's an intermittent problem somewhere between the stereo and the auxiliary connector within the console. This is exactly what I told my dealer the problem was, as I am an Electronics Engineering Technologist with 15 years of field experience. 90% of these sorts of problems are cabling and connectors.
Anyway, my dealer now wants "...4 hrs to replace the wiring harness.". What bothers me is knowing what comes apart, never goes back together the same.
Anyway, I'll just have to bite the bullet and bring it in. My dealer has been great up to this point. They have simply following Chrysler's direction by the book. Just sucks that my truck has to be torn apart is all.
I'll keep you posted Gents.
