Doesn't sound like its using or loosing coolant. Checking the coolant temp at highway speeds and idling are two different things. If it runs ok at highway speed, then it points to the electric fan.

Hey guys back again. So the overheating problem came back after 3 days of driving the truck, the guy that owns it says he can smell coolant in the cab so I’m thinking heater core. Also I’m getting a cylinder 4 misfire code every once in a while, the truck runs ruff in cold start up but seems to smooth out as it warms but it threw the code while driving. Please help if you can give me some direction. Thank you

plug the plugs on #4 and see if there is any sign of coolant. That may explain the misfire , loss of coolant and rough idle at cold start.

Thanks Pedro dog I’ll do that tomorrow I hope that it’s the problem lol. Not that I want it to be that problem, but at least I’ll have something to go in lol.

Default 2012 ram 5.7 Hemi

Hey guys got another ram 5.7 Hemi. They just replaced the motor with a long block it’s been 11,000 miles and already there is some type of valve train problem. Towed it back to the dealership that installed the motor they diagnosed it and said that they won’t cover the repairs. Said that the oil was never changed and the filter was never changed, but there are receipts to prove that it was done. Anyone ever had a problem with a long block? Or know a way to go about getting them to fix what needs to get fixed under the warranty. Thanks guy!

If you have proof that the maintenance was indeed done, and the engine isn't out of warranty by time or mileage, go back to the dealer, tell them they are going to fix it, or your next call will be to your lawyer. If they still refuse, file a suit against them for cost of repairs, legal expenses, and damages. (loss of use of the vehicle, time and trouble of arranging different transportation, etc.) Not to mention Breach of Contract.

Hey you, ya he has proof of maintenance and he’s got his lawyer on it. The original problem was the rocker arms so they replaced the whole motor. And I think it’s the same problem this time but they seem like they are acting like these motors don’t have problems. They gave him a problems the first time too and he had to get a lawyer involved that time too and it was in the mileage and time for the warranty.

So we found a broken lifter spring on the 2012 with 17000 miles on a brand new long block.
