Intermittent problem? That's likely just a questionable connection somewhere. If it runs fine otherwise, compression is likely fine. Now, if the problem is ALWAYS there.... THEN it's time to check compression.

You have MDS on that engine? I do believe number 4 is one of the ones that gets shut down. If the problem presents itself right after the engine comes out of 'eco' mode...... might be a solenoid problem.

Hey you, even after it Misfires it’s fine all the power seems to be there. Do you think it’s some type of software update?

No, its a failure somewhere in the system, I seriously doubt an update will fix it.....

When is the last time you changed the oil??

It just hit 3000 miles for the oil change. Do you think I could have a bad head gasket or head?

We use full synthetic oil in that truck.

You can rent a test kit from your local major chain parts store, to test for combustion products in the coolant, that should tell you if it's a blown gasket. Compression test would tell if it was a mechanical problem with the cylinder itself, but, those tend to be hard failures, not intermittent. Could be an MDS solenoid hanging up, or a lifter not pumping back up right away after dropping out of eco mode..... See when the problem shows up, if its right after the eco light goes out.... I would highly suspect a solenoid issue.

So the other thing hey you is that the check engine light was already on so the eco mode wasn’t coming on. The light is on for p0740 torque clutch open/circuit. Maybe the eco tried to come on. So a solenoid in that case would make sense I guess right? Jeez I’m losing my mind lol

Ok, if eco mode is disable, we can probably leave out the MDS system being at fault.

So, do the easy stuff first, make sure all connections are clean, and tight.

Ok so besides the coil pack connector, where does that harness go too? And also one other thought, could it be a milage thing? Meaning that if the truck is trying to go into readiness and it can’t do you think it would kick that code?

I don't think its a mileage thing..... you have an evident failure of some sort, albeit, intermittent..... (which makes it so much more fun.....)

You will have to physically trace the wiring...... I would just check each end..... I don't think there are any other connectors between the coil, and the PCM...... But, I don't have wiring diagrams for it either...... (which would also be REALLY nice to have at this point.)
