Question VVT Oil Temperature

Can someone please let me know where the VVT Oil Temperature sensor is located
on a 2017 Ram 1500, 5.7L ?
I found it on my scan gauge (see photo), and its providing different results then the engine
oil temperature sensor.

Well, the sensor obviously has issues. But, I cannot find info on where it's at. Try the dealer parts department, see if they have a good diagram.

Yes, I did try asking one dealership and all they would say is,
bring the car in and they'll diagnose it at $150/hr. For that cost I might consider Alldata.

I'm wondering if a subscription with Alldata will be having such info?
Anyone with experience of having dealt with Alldata, that could chime in?

Talk to the parts department, not service.

Its under the intake manifold and held in with one screw. Inspect the sensor and see if the screen is missing in some parts of the sensor. If some of the screen is missing, replace the sensor and change the oil and filter. This information was a star case.

Are you suggesting that the VVT Solenoid also contains a temperature sensor?

What is also peculiar, is that the electrical wiring diagrams from Chrysler
(at least the wiring diagrams that I "bought" from Chrysler) don't
show the connection to a VVT temperature sensor, nor the VVT solenoid. .

Here is what I found, The 5.7 have a VVT oil pressure solenoid for the timing, that is under the intake manifold. On the side of the block near the oil filter you have two sensors. One is the oil pressure sensor and the other is your oil temp sensor. If you had a 3.6 engine then the temp sensor is part of the duel stage oil pump. Hope this helps. The best way to see if you have unplug the right sensor is to hook up your scanner and look at the oil temp voltage. You are at 0.75 volts. If you have 5.0 volts you found the correct sensor.

Thanks for the info. I disconnected the oil temp sensor and the scan gauge showed -64C, voltage was 5v.
There is something I stumbled across, with the key in ON mode, engine OFF,
I cleared the codes.
Then with the key turned to ACC mode (engine off) and quickly pressed the gas pedal to the floor and released it. Suddenly then the Vehicle INFO on the IPC begins to display the oil, transmission and engine temperatures correctly. Is it possible my IPC has a software/hardware failure?
