BEst subs
1) jbl sucks *** 2) jl audio w7 is a cometition sub... not meant for normal use. its a sub thats meant for spl NOT SQ. there really is no sub that is the BEST... any sub will hit good as long as its powered right and is in the right box... u have a small sealed box for some 10s, get some subs that work good in sealed boxes.... some subs dont reccommend that u use sealed and only ported..... just do your homework on the specs and u can figure it out from there......

Lol about JL's being expensive, atleast they live up to how much they are, and I get them for free, being that my grandfather (who is a dentist) has ties with Stereos Sales and Pacer Rimes, I would never buy Pacer rims, but I do get all my stereo equipment for free, so i dont have to worry about how much JL costs

If i got JL for free...I'd sell it...

10" speakers will produce a "tighter" sounding bass than a 12" and a 12" will produce "tighter" bass than a 15", etc. Sealed boxes will allow the sub to handle more power and will keep the bass accurate. A ported box will usually produce a 3db increase and the driver will need less power. A bandpass box will produce the loudest bass but the most inaccurate bass. So it really depends on the application you are looking for SQ or spl.
I've used subs made by MTX, Audiobahn, Infinity, and some other unknown brands. I now know to stay away from unknowns. Below I have listed my experiences all using a MTX 81000 amp that pushes 1500wRMS at 2ohms.
After recently blowing my second audiobahn alum12x I would advise people to stay away from these subs or don't believe the wattage rates as I was only pushing 750wRMS and I blew the voice coil, they are rated for a max of 2000w and 1000wRMS. These puppies were very loud though and had decent SQ.
I've been through 4 infinity kappa perfect 12.1 subs. I love these subs although they are very delicate when new and require a long break in time 30-50hours. I did some damage to a pair by not breaking them and another pair was stolen. The Audiobahns sounded a little louder but the infinity had a far better SQ. These subs still hit and are a very good purchase.
Due to my past experiences with MTX subs I am now going to try out the new mtx 9512-44. These guys are pretty expensive 300-800 but they beat out the W7 in every test.
Please feel free to contact me if anyone needs any help as I have a fairly good knowledge with car audio.

In today's world the myth stated above is not necessarily true. Subwoofer manufacturers have developed plenty of Motor technology that improves motor control and overall linearity in subwoofers. Therefore, some 18's are just as accurate as 10's. A great leader in this technology is Adire Audio (www.adireaudio.com check out the XBL^2 technology). Orion has a different and little inferior technology that works well as well called "Dual Gap" technology. JL Audio also has the DMA technology doing the same thing.
So in short, the above is complete horse ****. It may have held true about 5 years ago, but today it doesn't...except only for really ****ty car audio which you shouldn't buy anyways.
PS: No harm meant by this at all
PPS: Before you spend too mcuh on the MTX check out
www.incriminatoraudio.com (Death Penalty series, check out visionary audio for direct pricing)
www.reaudio.com (XXX series, will hand the 9500's their ***...call for direct pricing)
www.adireaudio.com (Tumult series, will hand the 9500's their ***)
www.ascendantaudio.com (Avalanche series, will hand the 9500's their ***)
www.soundsplinter.com (Rl-p series, on-par with the 9500 series)

I understand your thinking with the technology advances where an 18" can sound like a 10" I have no doubt about that but you would really be comparing oranges to apples there. It doesn't matter what brand you use but if you use the same line of subs for a 10 and an 18 with blahblah technology in both of them then the 10 will still sound tighter than the 18, all thanks to physics.
So now my turn for horse ****ting. You first say my info is a myth then you say it held true 5 years ago, so which is it a myth or just outdated information???
Your first link has broken pictures all over it, so like I would even think about buying a sub from that company.
Yes the XXX do look sweet too bad I can't test drive those anywhere near me.
With the adire link, you can't find the tumult series in their product page (although they are referenced), although I do know that the Brahma's kick ***.
The Avalanche series doesn't offer a 12 so by actually reading my post you would know that you posted a useless link to me.

2. Incriminator is in the process of re-locating as well as releasing TONS of new products. They should have a new site up and running within the next few months. Their products speak for themselves, some of the baddest woofers ever. The Death Penalty series is AMAZINGLY loud and sounds great. Like it says, "No chrome, no carbon fiber, no BS, Period!"
3. The XXX is amazing...where do you live? I've owned a few XXX's...currently have an 18. Check out www.caraudio.com might be able to find some1 near you with a XXX...
4. Adire is re-vamping their ENTIRE line. The new Tumult will be there flag-ship for car audio, it will eclipse the brahma

5. A few avalanche 12's are out, the are coming very soon. I'll prolly be picking up a pair whenever I decide to part with the 18XXX.
Good luck, peace
