Default New stereo doesnt sound good

I installed a new head unit to replace the factory for various reasons such as HD, XM, USB etc

It's a JVC Arsenal 20w, nothing special, but better than the factory

I have the infinity 7 speaker system, so I had to buy the modulator box thing

But the sound still isnt there, and I notice the front door speakers have little to no sound, mainly what sounds like bass from a sub

I hooked everything up according to specs, and i will try to explain it:

I had to uses the RCA jacks from the mod box into the head unit. the new head unit has 4 RCA outs, 2 sub and 2 line outs. I hooked the 4 RCA jacks from the mod box to the two line outs via splitters, per Crutchfield's tech team.

hooked the head units blue/white wire to the mod box's blue/white wire. think this tells the amp in the truck to "work".

red to red, black to black, no dimmer control wire. I taped up the 8 speaker wires coming out of the head unit.

Does anyone have any input? I'd hate to spend $50 to have some 16 year old kid at the stereo shop tell me its a simple fix.

Thaks, Dan

In modulator box do you mean the CAN-BUS or the amp bypass, because the speakers will sound like crap without the amp bypass

Your stock system gets its volume from the amp, not the radio. The radio just tells the amp to up the volume.

you've got to bybass the amps in the stock speakers becasue each infinity speaker has its own amp and if you hood up the blue wire off your head unit to the stock wire harnes it will incorporate the stock system.

well u may be right I havn't looked into the 3rd gen yet but my last truck had an amp on every speaker and it was a infinity sound system also When I put in an aftermarket radio it didn't play loud either and I couldn't find out what the problem was so I went down to circuit city and the guy came out and looked at it and then pulled the covers off for the speakers and said that is why you have to hook up the blue wire for the amps coming from the radio

Yes its the amp, just 1 amp. It protects the stock speakers by reducing bass when volume is turned up. Only way to make it sound good is to bypass it with a new amp and new speakers. I also dont like the component setup it has.

Soooo, for a few hundred dollars, I can have a new speaker system and amp installed.

Figures

lol
