Default How do you all like your Calibers?

So, I was looking at the Caliber at the local dealership.
For starters, I would get a manual transmission. However, I'd like to hear from anyone.
How do you guys like the power of the motors (specifically the 1.8L owners, since that's the lowest powered motor, however, not as bad as some of the competitors!) What about the 2.4L turbo (SRT) owners? Since the 2.0L engine is not available with a manual, I guess I really don't care about it.

Any problems you've noticed with the cars? Ride problems, handling problems, or complaints about it? OR, on a positive note, anything you absolutely love about it?
I haven't test drove one - yet. The local place only had 1 manual, which was in the showroom (it was a base model SE)

Basically, I'm trying to decide against a Caliber, Civic, Corolla, or Cobalt. (Mainly, I believe, Caliber or Civic).
Thanks for the help/information!

Well, ours has been trouble free so far. It is a 2.0 CVT2 so I can't comment on the manual trans.

I'm on my second Caliber and I have yet to have any major issues with either one. Both were the CVT model so I can't comment on the manual transmission. I currently have an R/T and its great.

As long as you're not into luxury interior I think you'll like the Caliber. It does have a lot of plastic in it, but it doesn't bother me.

The best thing to do is take one for a test drive. Drive both the CVT and manual transmission models if you can. Don't always believe what you hear about the CVT. Its a fine transmission. People automatically think its crap because its "different".

Default 2008 Caliber

I recently purchased a 2008 Caliber (Orange), and the dealership put some Caliber racing stripes on the doors and hood. Looks sharp! I have the orange interior by the controls, and seat accents. I have been extremely pleased with the ride, handling, and storage capability. A good ride!

Can you post a picture of the stripes? Sounds like you have the Sport edition.
