I hated to do it, but I backed out of my Caliber R/T order - after 2 months and still no build date, and I had already sold my current car, just couldnt wait anymore. I purchased a 2006 Mazda 3 instead. The Mazda really impressed me (much like the Caliber), but I had to give up having AWD

I went to one of the many local Dodge dealers in my city and the Caliber is hard to come by. One dealer had 4 of them WITH NO A/C !?!? I found mine at another dealer. Not the color I wanted. But the marina Blue is starting to grow on me.

I'm sorry to here that you had to back out. This was why I put this post on the board. I also backed out of a Caliber deal but I found the Caliber I wanted on a different lot by chance. The 3 is a very nice car and if it had AWD I too would have looked at it. But I have to have the AWD. I hope you keep posting on this site and let us know how your 3 does.

I own a Dodge Dealership in Lexington, South Carolina and every Caliber we have had has sold (10) with the exception of one AWD RT, and like for you guys they are hard to come by for myself. I have had about 10 more Calibers ordered and have yet to have them scheduled by Chrysler, and about a week ago they went on restriction, now you can't get any SXT. After the SXT's went on restriction I had to replace all of my Caliber orders. Fortunately they have been scheduled but it is very limited to what I can get. (only RT, and SE Sport)

Well, perhaps they are going to build R/T's for a while, then. I've had an R/T on order since 4/26-06, and it missed the 2006.5 cutoff, but is now in "D" status, and the dealer has the allocation for it, so perhaps I can expect to see it show up sometime in September or so. The largest dealer around only has two Calibers on the lot, both SE's with minimal options, and he doesn't expect them to stay on the lot long. I was around for the long wait for PT Cruisers, so I'm not sweating the Caliber---it'll get here when it gets here.
