Default Sales Will be lost

Dodge will lose customers that are interested in the Caliber due to all the strange delays. People will go elsewere. Dodge really should have planed this out much better than what they did. What they should have done is released the Caliber this fall, with a steady number of cars going to each of their dealerships. There is no way they can justify the Compass right now, they should delay it's release by 6 months and cautch up on the # of Calibers that they owe the public. You would never see this type of delay from most Jap auto makers, maybe Suzuki.

Wait till Chevy releases the new Camaro. Then you'll see grown men crying and asking for thier mommy while they are trying to find one

You are correct, Chrysler is typical of how manufacturers have lost touch with reality, with the Caliber selling like it is, the third shift should be dedicated to making more Calibers, then when sold orders are brought back to normal waits, then and only then, start the Jeep Compass production. I don't think the Jeep Compass is going to have the same impact as the Caliber though, I think the Dodge Caliber looks better than the Compass and has better price points for the customers the vehicle is trying to reach.

And now if its really true that you cannot order a Caliber anymore, Chrysler either REALLY going to get behind in order, or REALLY start to lose orders. Chrysler really needs to get their head out of their **** with a lot of things.

My opinion on this is they didn't expect them to sell as well as they are. So yes, you could call it poor planning.

DC is stupid :-P They already lost my business I just got my new jetta 4 days ago when 1 month ago I would've died for the Caliber. But f**k it if they want to loose business. And in response to people who say "They didn't expect it to sell as well as it is" why would any company invest that much time and money into something and expect it to be mediocre? They knew what they were doing but they had a stupid unrealistic deadline and they will suffer because of it. Screw Caliber.

With a backlog like this, 48,000 orders, adding the Compass is just plain stupid.

Hehehehehe I'll be one of them too! I cannot wait for that car to come out...

As for the delays on the Caliber, DC simply screwed themselves. The truth is, they should have waited until the fall to begin shipping these cars. They rushed it trying to get a bunch of sales and all they are doing now is making people decide on something else. It's very unfortunate. I seem to recall they had similar issues with the Dodge Magnum as well......as they couldnt get them out the door fast enough....

EDIT: One other bit of info to keep in mind, DC already has tons of 06 models sitting on lots and at plants that havent even been sold yet....and they have cut production down at some plants. This only makes the situation worse as they could start losing sales.

Dodge needs to open up another assembly plant for the Caliber so they can build mine. [sm=smiley20.gif] If Dodge really took 48,000 orders this month, then an assembly plant that can only kick out 12,000 Calibers per month just won't cut it. But eventually, no one will want a Caliber and then Dodge won't be able to sell these just like with every other model that was a hit when it first came out. I'm just trying to get mine ASAP. Getting sick of waiting.
