Default 2000 dodge caravan crankshaft position sensor

i have a 2000 dodge caravan v6. There are 3 wires going to the crankshaft position sensor (gray, black & orange). I put a continuity light on all three wires with key turned on & while cranking engine over & no power. Which wires should have power while key is on & which wire should have power while engine cranking?. Where do these wires go? I was gonna replace pos sensor but shouldnt there be power going to it?

Thank you. This will help. When I test the orange & gray wires with a continuity light, I am not getting power to the sensor nor am I getting a signal out of it while engine is cranking. Do you think the pcm is bad or is there a fuse or relay for the sensor that may be bad?

Ck the wire harness going to the sensor. As these vans get older, the wires sometime starts melting together from heat of the exhaust.

About 4 months ago I rear ended someone & destroyed the front end. I had to replace the entire front clip. The PCM & fuse box were snapped right off of the mounting bolts. I have the car all back together but not getting spark. I am getting fuel. I visually checked all the wires on the harness & they seem to be intact. Its just that there is no power going to or from te Crankshaft pos sensor. Could it be the pcm? Could everything work on the pcm except fo the part that works the cp sensor?

Connector 2 at the PCM pin 44 or wire is the 8 volt supply from the PCM.In the PDC fuse number 3 is the asd relay. Also remove the a/c transducer and TSP connector too. and ck for 8volts at those wires. They are on the same circuit.

Should I be checking these with the key turned all the way ahead or while someone is cranking the engine over?

a test light won't accurately show crank sensor output signal. because it is a low current signal.

you need a real scanner to check pcm signal and a real oscilloscope to check sensor patterns

I am gonna check every connection & wire on the harness with these testers. Is their a websight I can go to & download a wire diagram showing me where the wires go & their volts?
