Default 02 G'Caravan, 70+K On Plugs, Now @ .060 (Done )

70K miles on the 02 Grand Caravan Sport 3.3L Spark Plugs. I Say 70k because thats how many miles I put on it since I purchased it used. I know the seller has done it and the wires at least once.

I pulled the front 4 and they all measured .060 to .062 GAP vs.the .050 spec.
I guess its time. If not I'll do it now before they decide.

Going to pull the wiper tray and do the PCV too and look around back there.
Ordered the Champion P/N 7440 (RE14PLP5) OE plugs $33.00 shipped from RockAuto.

I'm hoping the extra .010 Gap is the cause of my idle in gear - hum in the cab vibration. Its kind of slight and nobody notices it but me but I hope I get lucky.

Also take a look at the injector harness too. There has been some problem with the harness melting inside the loom.

Default Changed The Plugs / Easy Job / Found Some Lose!

I changed the plugs by just reaching back there. No wiper tray removal needed. It did not take long at all. Yes it is cramped, but I am by no means skinny @ 6'2" & 225 lbs.
The hardest part was getting the boots to let go on the rears. I know to be careful what and how to pull on them so it was kind of a pain. Just a little one. The job is not one to fret about.

To my surprise when I pulled on the ratchet on the back ones (1,3, and 5) there was no torque. What tha! The last guy didn't have the arms or ratchet attachments I have maybe. He got the fronts tight enough.

Here are pics. One to show the wear. One to show the seats. The right plug with the nice shiny seat is a front plug. Note how dirty the rear seats are. It felt as if the installer just made them touch.

I always use compressed air to blow around the plugs before removal. After feeling how loose and seeing the seats I did a mirror view and seen no signs of obvious blow-by but mercy sakes.

All of the old ones measured from 0.060 to 0.063. The new ones, five of them, came gapped @ 0.050. One of them got closed a little some how, you could tell it may have been dropped or something. Fixed that.

The PCV valve was a breeze and was a MOPAR unit. It was ready as it did not seal as well as the replacement.

All in all the job does not require a wiper tray removal and the only thing that would have made it needed is if they were over torqued. You don't have a bunch of swing room back there. I used a rehular 3/8 ratchet & 3" extension to loosen. A long handle swivel head 3/8" ratchet to tighten after I seated them with the other ratchet.

Thanks
