That car looks completely bad ***. I know this is a long shot, but anyone think there will be a convertable??

I've been wondering if they will make a convertable as well, and the plus side is some stuff is already set for a convertable too so they wouldn't have to change them, like the car is a hardtop so already they wouldn't have to make alternate non-full frame doors and the seatbelts are on the seat as well which is also needed for the convertable. The only posible reason I could see them not making one is because if they made it i'm sure it would really cut into the sebrings sales.
I really like it and am curious to as to the schedule for production (if "green-lighted???).
I have a '73 Challenger rallye...it would like a buddy.
If they are smart, they will build it and price it directly at the Mustang.
They may want to "dust off" Barry Newman for a commercial too...got to do one of these bad boys in white!!!
If they build it just like the concept and make the good/best version anywhere near affordable, then I will buy one. But I just know they'll screw it up by either changing it for the worse or making it ungodly expensive.
Personally, I'd say Chrome the door handle and all the window trim to emphisise the "retro". You know those headlights will never make production. Just like the Mag SRT...had the sweet crossfire style projectors and they gave it Jeep Chrerokee headlights upside down.
I've read the posts by mph mag about them wanting those pics taken down, but did they mention the info they posted is not real, but rather a guess?
at least that is what i read here...

The good pictures of it here are from the current issue of C&D, they have the Challenger in their february '06 issue. The info seems to be a mix of good and bad.
The good:
They mention how this concept version has the 425 horsepower 6.1L Hemi and that, "Rumor has it that production versions might get an optional 500-hp, 392-cubic-inch V-8 shown at the SEMA show." This concept Challenger also has the center console canted toward the driver with a pistol grip shifter mated to a six-speed manual transmission. With the 6.1L Hemi the manufacturer estimates the Challengers performance at 0-60 MPH in 4.5 sec., 1/4 mile in 13.0 sec. and a top speed of 174 MPH.
The bad:
They say that they don't expect the Challenger to weigh much less than the Charger's roughly 4,100 pounds. They only took out 4.1 inches from the LX platforms wheelbase and the production model is likely to be on the upcoming LY platform. This Challenger is actually longer than not just the original Challengers of the early 70's, but also longer than the 300C as this Challenger is 197.8 inches long.
You make the call:
The estimated base price is $35,000 (I would hope for this to be the base price of the 500-hp 392 version).

F'n sweet. I've been talking to the dealer regarding a GT500, but if this thing comes out like this and is comparable in price.. I may just have to change my mind. Sure fire hit on thier hands.
