Damn people,

I read more of this thread then maybe I should have. Are there truly this many car owners out there that don't grasp the fact that 350hp crank is a lot different then 350rwhp? Do you people really expect your cars to be 350rwhp? 280rwhp is extremely respectable. That is a 20% loss from transmisson and rear end. Do some research. I've known these numbers for over twenty years. Hell, just read some of the crappy hot rod magazines that are still out there, you should believe them over my rant. Dyno numbers are not the same as manufacturers claimed HP. There is a parasitic loss to transmissions and final drive. Some systems are more efficient then others but still there is no manufacturer today who can apply 100% of crank to RWHP.

ok zedd calm down calm down pop a couple of percasets and sit in front of a six pack and relax .we know that.but let me ask you this lets say the car was a 500 hp car but at the rear wheels was 200 hp.but the car was advertised as 500 hp,would you be pissed and feel like you got screwed .im not saying i feel screwed or any should feel screwed, but there is an intentional thought process buy all manufacturers to rate the cars at the crank and not at the rear wheels.which as far as im concerned is the real hp numbers.maybe to increase the hp to the ground they should have offered the cars with a stick shift option.

Dave, the problem with Budweiser, is that all girls, and even some farm animals look good after few. The camera is just trying to show the effects as seen through someone that has consumend the product.

Similar consequences are experienced when getting into the Daytona, the degassing of the plastisizers into the sealed cocpit, provide a euphoric feeling, It seems that Dodge has tied the degassing mechanism gas pedal operation. So the illusion if acelleration is just produce by gassing the occupants, If you dont feel it then roll up the windows for full effect...

I was young during the first muscle car era but I do remember a tuneup every 15,000 miles, vapor lock, sitting at a stop light in the summer with so much tailpipe emissions that it was hard to breath. Being that is was 9 yrs old, I could sit in the front seat without a seatbelt. Of course all they had were lapbelts, no shoulder harneses anyway. When you bought a car it was common to make a dozen trips to the dealership to have them fixed, pieces missing, misaligned, poorly fitted. the only gauge was an oil light, but it was bad when it came on. But I digress.

More B.S. to add...

I went to the track again and lined up twice with a stock R/T, with out the road and track package, against my stock Daytona. Now someone please explain why the R/T was a little bit faster (mph) and a tick quicker on the ET. I'm talking next to identical reaction times, and the R/T pulled me a little on the top end. I sure am glad I paid thousands of $$$ to have a "f'ing" sticker kit. 350hp...BS again. I guess that extra 10hp is used up for the added weight of the spoilers and stickers.

Our first run was 15.50's and our second, about 1hour later, was 15.30's @ 2500ft and 80 degree temps.

Glad I took the Superbee to the track also, I needed something to restore my faith in MOPAR.

Moparmike:

Was that 2500ft altitude above sea level or was it Density Altitude? All of a sudden Dave's numbers do not look so bad...

How much gas were you carrying? Did you drop pressure in your tires? Was the traction control on? Any of these factors would have made the difference you are describing.

Were you useing suto stick or just drive? Do you have 20's? The driver is probably the biggest reason, it always is.

The runs I made were all back to back - no cool down time. It didn't seem to make much difference whether I left it in "D", or did the slap stick thing. My times never varried from 15.2s to 15.3s all night long. I'm wondering if there are differences in these cars that we're not fully aware of - from the factory. I would think the Daytona should be able to hook up better than a stock R/T. I'm at a loss.

I'm starting to wonder if there is something wrong with the car. I have been racing for years, throw that out the window. I had a fairly good reaction time for a pro tree, I did the old hold the esp button for 8 sec. and I left the auto stick in 1 (it shifts on it's own). My tires are at 44 psi and I had less than a 1/4 tank of fuel. I stalled the converter up before launch. The tires did not spin at all. Go figure.
