Keep in mind, most of the people here have probably never fooled with cars of this vintage. The first car I ever bought was a '65 Plymouth version of your car. Well, it was a 4 door and a 318, but the same body style. For me it's nostalgia. For a lot of the people here, it's cool and unique. Dakota's? Ram pickups? Mini vans? Stratus's? They are all over the place. Cars like yours are not. The few that are, are not in the condition of yours. I don't know where you're located but it's probably not anywhere near me. Otherwise, I'd stop by to help work on the car just to revisit my youth. I was 10 years old when your car was built. When I got my license, it was just a used car.
By the way, if you ever pull the transmission, do NOT mess with the wheel adjusters on the cables. You have the last year of the push button transmission but the push buttons had been replaced by a shift lever. A year before, push buttons and a year later, the shift rods on the side of the transmission. General Motors got a government specification put in that required a PRNDL shifter on government purchases of automatic vehicles.

Reason: i kant spel wurth a durn.
Where are you at? That car is in REALLY good condition for its age.
Im on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, on the beach... But....I bought the car in Alabama.....But....it was last registered in Mississippi. I have been trying to research previous owner and locations to no avail... No special reason for the search other than to know this vehicles history.

Ok, so if I understand you correctly, I have a push button shift vehicle but with a shifter on the column.... Damn....and I was happy to see the column shifter instead of push buttons... Thanks for the info....Im sure it will come in handy down the road.
Here's a couple more pics from tonight.....I still have to pinch myself when I look in the garage and see my dream cars sitting in there! Most folks dream of owning a Vette or a Porsche...not me....I already owned several of those cars...THIS Dodge is MY dream car!!! Been looking for many years for one of these.

The push button shift was a cable that went back and forth. In 1965 only, the cable was still there but moved by a lever. In '66 the transmission that was used into the 80's was introduced.
I'm down in your neck of the woods from time to time. The kids husband is a SeeBee based in Gulfport. He's currently on deployment so I don't know when I'll be down there next. She'll be up here in the next few weeks.

I know what you mean. I wanted a Mercedes SL for 30 years. A friend is a dealer and he had one but for 7 years he either wanted too much, I didn't have free cash, he didn't want to seel and wanted to keep it for a draw and so on. I stopped by on my way to look at a Porsche that turned out to be a pile of parts. I stopped by on the way hme, we agreed on a price and that afternoon it was in my drive way. I found myself looking out the window to see if I really did have it.Many years later, I wasn't able to remove the hardtop so I ended up selling it but I had it for many years.
I'm looking, sort of, for a newer one with a folding hardtop. I don't know if they will have the same driving experience I had with my '82.

Funny you mention about the SeaBees....that is the reason Im in Gulfport. My Fiancee'/wife? son was a Seabee and when he got out stayed in Long Beach. We had been RV'ing down here from Tennessee to visit the grand kids. So when I "retired" we decided to move down here to be near the GK's....Pretty nice down here and the cost of living is pretty cheap. Let me know when you may be in the area again....we can tell lies together....

We currently own a 320 CLK convertible....Two cars I will NEVER own again....Porsche and Mecerdes.....even though I work on my own cars, the parts for these two are insane....I have owned 17 Corvettes and the "Corvette tax" is nothing compared to these other two....Ill give you a great deal on a beautiful MB Vert....but the top wont go down due to leaking struts and it will only cost you around $3k to fix.....

My MB wasn't that bad but I have, or had, a lot of parts sources that are out of the ordinary. I like getting "problem children" and getting them back on the road. My pickup was in a barn for years.
Next time I'm down on the Gulf, I'll PM you and get your details. I hope you don't mind if I bring my own water. I have yet to get used to Gulfport's water.
Back to your car, keep in mind that until the 1971 model year, Chrysler used LH thread studs on the drivers side. The next time you have the poverty caps off, see if there is an L on the end of the stud. I remember seeing studs broken off when people tried to remove the wheel and kept tightening the stud.
First thing to check is for power at the ballast. Disconnect both sides.
One connector side should have voltage with key in start position and the other not.
Key in the run position it should be the opposite.
Clean and tighten up the bulk head connections.
Moparite asked about the flat piece of steel ...... I have similar. Mine is a torque control strap.

Good info there, thanks! I must have missed the post asking about the steel strap. I assume it is for torque control as you said. We use to bolt a piece of chain from the engine to the frame, but I guess this works just as well.
