Decided to rebuild the carb after running it for awhile. The amount of crap inside it, even after blowing out the lines in installing a new fuel filter, has made me decide to change out the fuel tank for a new one and the lines while Im at it.

You're probably going to find a lot of things that need cleaning. The car has sat a lot and that's not really good for them. In the short term, get some of the large ceramic magnets and place them on the bottom of the tank until you pull it to clean it. Rust floats around but will stick to the magnetic field and it does better than you might think.

Good tip, but my new tank will be here today so I will have it changed out by the end of the week end.....

A new tank, especially if you get a new filler tube, shouldn't need magnets. I usually get my old cars out of fields. My current truck came out of a barn where it sat for years. A simple timing chain replacement has turned into a long drawn out repair as I find other things in there and take care of them while I'm at it.

Think I would flush the lines with something or other..... just to make sure they are clean.

I already did....car runs great now! Got every thing cleaned out and buttoned up, even replaced the spark plugs for good measure. Took the beast out for my first ride around the block. This thing is bad azz!!! Noticed a small leak from the radiator so I just purchased a new aluminum one to keep me on the road while I decide if I want to repair/recore the original one.

My Dodge is originally from Michigan, but I will not go north of the Mason Dixon line.... Come on down to the Gulf and I'll even let you drive it....
