How mnay daytona owners here?? ROLL CALL!!
Well I just rejoined the ranks of Daytona owners...
My father used to sell these things new, and I fell in love with the 87-91 Daytona.
I bought my first one in college a sharp white 1990 2.5l 5-spd (base model), I only sold that because I had the oppertunity to buy a 1987 ShelbyZ. The ShelbyZ had been hot rodded to hell and back by every previous owner that had it, it had issues; but it would also pull a legitimate 12.5 sec. 1/4mile. Alas I didn't have the money to keep it on the road at the time and I had to sell it [
] It kept pulling itself apart while racing. Once I finally graduated college I tracked down its unfortunate demise... some scmuck cranked it up to 50lbs of boost and sent parts of the motor through the side of the car.
Well I just purchased another Daytona this last weekend, a 1991 ES 3.0l auto. It is black and the body and paint are PERFECT!!! The interior is grey and very sharp. Cosmetically it is a 9.75 out of 10!!! Motor is seized. I just joined the forum today to research all the possible options for a new powerplant.
Problem is I want to leave the body as-is with the full interior, and have a car that will still pull 12sec flat in the 1/4mile...
Tuner math says I'm going to need like 360-ish horse power
Luckily for once in my life time & money are on my side
