You'll get better fuel economy with a smaller wheel, since steel weighs more than rubber walls and air. You'll also get a smoother ride due to more sidewall to flex and absorb bumps.
Really, the only advantage to larger wheels is looks...
Well, I traded my 2009 Journey SXT for a 2012 Journey Crew, with the $2,500. rebate I couldn't wait any longer. This one was on the lot, unfortunately it came with the 19" tires and it had all the options I wanted. So I guess I will find out if it is as good on gas then the old one. Thanks everyone for your comments.
Hope you squeeze better miles out of those 19s. My 2010 with 17s crushed the stock Kumho tires; its got 23,000 miles now and we'll be lucky if we see 30,000 miles out of the set.
The Journey is a big, heavy car and should probably have heavier-duty SUV/CUV tires instead of passenger tires. I'm probably going that route when I replace them.
