Has anyone contacted his site host? They may be interested in what is going on.

I sent them an email the same day I contacted the Feds, but I'm sure 'the more the merrier'....

Time to shut the <insert derogatory name here> down...

Now that Volant has developed a CAI, he's missed the boat, hasn't he?

That window has been closed since before he opened it, insofar as cold air is concerned. I found you can get cold air from a K&N Typhoon despite the short ram aluminum tube. I did quite a bit of road testing (20- to 160-mile runs) , with various external and internal-elbow sensor placement. Air was effectively ambient in the internal test. Details and pics are at http://foohbar.com/page_33.cfm.

Well color me surprised and a half - got a phone call last night from the missing Mr.Anderson, who again came across not as a scammer, but a very disorganized kinda guy - it's hard not to like the guy, he comes across very well.

He's promised my stuff by Tuesday this time, what are the chances?

I sent PM's to two others in here who seem to be lacking their stuff, I guess we'll see.

Read through this whole thing...
looked at the "prototype" photos and the website...
Went out to the car, made a few measurments.
So, what are you saying here? Are you willing to put a box of stuff together, get some pipe bent and figure out the bracketry and write the instructions and sell this stuff? Sure, the individual pieces aren't that much, it's the assemblege <is that a word? that is what folks are willing to pay for.

I just stuck the k&n on the end of the stock rubber tube and it sounds freaking awesome and my s.o.t.p dyno thinks it's pulling harder - if that's possible, this is one hell of a motor...I'm not concerned with sucking in hot air, right now there isn't any around here. :-)

I haven't found a shop around here that can do 4" tubing, we don't have any diesel truck shops that -I- know of locally (bedroom community NorthEast of Atlanta) and the phonebook doesn't list any Goodyear suppliers. I can get the hose clamps at Lowes for like $4 - got that part covered at least :-)

So yeah, on the surface it doesn't look like we are getting any deal, but how much value does it add to have a complete package done up? For that matter, I'm quite sure I could have cobbed up some plumbing parts and made something functional, but how is that gonna look when I pop the hood?

Well,
I think what I was saying is that, given the fact that all the parts are available to me, I have a place and the time to cobble it all together, for me, it wouldnt be a hard fabrication...but I had a engnieering buddy play with the car today...we found a few surprises...read the Magnum with 6 mufflers thread...
End result of today totally un-scientific experiment was the results you got with sticking the K&N on the end of the tube were pretty much it...until someone comes up with a way to re-program the on board computer, we are already pretty much maxed on what the car will top out at.
You can make it sound better, and get a quicker throttle response, but you can't really make the car go any faster than the computer will allow.

Most of the bolt on stuff currently on the market is eye and ear candy...not that there is a thing wrong with making it look as good under the hood as it does on the outside!

I may be stepping on some toes here...but the point of my post above was that the mod for the CAI didn't seem too far out of the reach of the average joe to built themselves...
But then again, Houston has something like six pages of tubing suppliers in the phone book, and Goodyear has a major plant and distributing facility here, so getting the stuff isnt that hard.

I am one of those people who are cheap...if I need a aluminum **** or a shifter handle, I dont go buy one, I go into the back room, cut a piece of bar stock, and turn one on my lathe..to suite my needs, as opposed to buying only whats offered.

There was no real insult intended to those who want to buy this guys set up...I was picking fun at him...but after all, if the market is there, I wish him all the luck in the world.

And if it makes you feel better to buy and install it, and you like the way it sounds and looks, well, thats one of the reasons you bought a Magnum in the first place, it was something you wanted, and if bolting this set up on gives you the results you wanted, then I thinks thats a great idea.

I was going to fabricate my own intake, and duct it to the front grille next to the rad...but after todays testing, I think I will wait for two major events...someone to make a set of tuned headers...and someone to come up with a way to re-program the on board.

Again, everything we did today is minus measurable results a dyno would give...but it made a lot of sense watching it happen.

Yes, this is one hell of a motor...I saw where DC is looking for ideas from the general public as to what else they would want a Hemi in, so I got a feeling we are the first group of owners of DC's version of the Chevy 350...the motor for everything!
And if thats the case, then I am expecting the after market guys to really get it in gear this year, with some useable results from their customer applied speed products.

Stay Frosty,
Ed

I hear you on the 'do it yourself' concept, when I lived in Upstate NY I had access to all kinds of machinery, it was a no brainer to get anything I wanted made, but now that I live just North of Atlanta it's just not the same...

I agree with your summary of the modification results, I'd figure there's 25-30hp in a good smooth intake/exhaust combination, but not a whole lot more to get until the computer lets it.

There's a lot to be said for fly-by-wire, but it would be nice to have the ability to look inside the covers.

Eye and Ear Candy is so right - this car is pretty darn close to the way I want it - it's almost TOO powerful, (if there is such a thing) the Borla is getting 'just-a-bit' louder/throatier with use and with the k&n not muffling anything it has a howl that lifts the hair on the back of my neck! The combination is just about right for me - I'm not real interested in getting the ultimate 1/4 mile out of it or racing at Road Atlanta, even though I will give both a shot, just to see how much fun it is - this is a really nice cruising car and don't the heads just turn?

This is just so cool...

That they do...left the ear drum off, and cruising home it got a lot of looks...
Dont know about others, but I cant find a place where you can really let this thing rip...you run out of road real quick once it all hooks up...
But it is fun just blowing the ricers away, with no effort at all!

hey, dodge tech that is not a fan of the magnum or 300c,but i do agree they haul donkey (a#^!)
I think we see the SRT8 in a few weeks!Thats going to smoke all gen of the mustang!
The magnum and 300c have the new Can bus system for comunication, its hard to diag and to get info out of,
we have to use the star scan insteed ofthe DRB3,the star scan just has slow software cause it is new
the SRT8 has a 6.1 hemi that hauls butt!just hit the trac button!
COLD AIR WORKS!
