I break in engines the same way on all my cars, after about 500 miles of kind of easy driving to let the rear end gears seat, then I drive like I'd normally drive. I don't punch the pedal every light, but I don't drive like there's a raw egg under the pedal either. (wink). As far as the ticking sound, I've never noticed it on mine. It could be too many things to speculate.

I broke mine in by having my wife drive it nice and easy for 500 miles. Mainly around town and some highway driving. At 500 miles I did two 0-120mph full throttle runs.

Also have the tick. Sounds like an injector ticking. The engine is way too quiet.

My car must not know there is one....all i know...it wanted to keep going.
I thought the service guys at my dealer were just BS'ng me when they
said mine is the fastest RT they have ever driven....maybe they weren't.
They keep asking me if I "chip'd" it....NOPE!

I don't baby my RT, but I don't abuse it either. I always floor it every now and then, just to hear the Flowmasters and the open air intake sound.

BTW, I don't hear any ticking noises at idle, maybe it's 4 shutoff cylinders at idle?
