Default RE: Warranty / Exhaust

Hello,
Just finished my exhaust upgrade. I took off the suitcase and welded two resonators in its place. It sounds just like it should for me (34yrs old) Not to much noise or pop but under heavy throttle it really picks up. On the highway around 2500 RPM or less sounds totaly stock no drone. I went to the shop with intensions of getting flowmasters but they talked me out of it and going with resonators. They did 3 in the last month so with the option of trying different setups I was sold on their recomendation. It's off the line and passing that makes the difference. the seat dyno tells me its quicker. More throttle response and the engine revs more freely. I was babying it last night with the wife in the car and she didn't notice. She did say it was the second best choice I have made, buying the car. You can guess the first one. She even mentioned finding an air mattress to fit the cargo area. Off topic but I would like to see one of those tent deals to stick on the rear. Why is there not a rear power hatch lift? And why is there not a power window in the hatch?

So, Shane - when you say 'resonators' - exactly what are you referring to?

Is there a brand name? can you stick a camera under there and show us?

Mike

Still waiting for my BlackHemiMagnum to show up....

Here is a link to a photo of what I had done... PHOTO
It is a 12" glasspack....it toned down the 60 to 70 mph drone a great deal.

So, by your photo, you mean that you kept the stock muffler and replaced the resonator with a glasspack muffler? That correct?

As I mentioned in my prior posts, I replaced the large front muffler, and
the two huge mufflers at the rear, with two series 40 Flowmasters.....
That setup was a bit loud for me at highway speeds. That is when I
had the 12" glasspacks added.

As I don't have a Magnum yet (the wife is pulling for me to get the Pacifica!) I wonder what you folks mean by "drone." Is it the subtle throbbing hum of potential? Can someone make some audio clips of how their cars sound inside the cabin?

That's an interesting look - not real sure yet if I'd go that big on the tips - you definately know it isn't stock!

I have the 'dreaded drone' with my V6 Dodge Ram 2500 Conversion Van, it's downright annoying, but then it's a six,
with a single 1-into-2 Flowmaster 40, so I guess it was to be expected.

Even the stereo has to work to mask it - but dang, does it sound nice at idle and for about 60-70% of the driving I do.

At idle you'd swear it was a V8

We have two systems for the Magnum. These pictures are of our aggressive (loud) system with 5" tips. We also have a quieter system with 3.5" tips. Thanks for your interest.

Has anyone heard the Borla system on the Hemi Magnum or 300?

I've not only heard it - I live with it now, (the Mopar version with the 3.5" tips) and it rocks. a VERY subtle change in exhaust note that is getting a bit louder over time, but not much. When I started it the first time, I thought 'Geez, this isn't what I expected at ALL', but after after driving it for a bit, I'm a believer. I drove the Van yesterday and it's totally obnoxious sounding now, compared to the Magnum. Time to tone it down some I guess.

With the Borla, you aren't going to impress the neighbors with a lot of sound, nor frighten their fart-can equipped kids. What you will see is more airflow and a nice subtle exhaust note that is very civilized.

Even my M.I.L commented on how nice it sounds, and she's one of my biggest detractors :-)

Wishing I didn't have to work today, so I could go shine 'the fleet'

Everything going OK with your Borla exhaust? I do have a question for Mike....Mr Borla had mentioned a
minimal increase in the db level....what do you think, is it a minimal increase?
