Most likely it's a 318. What car is it in? Get the numbers off the fender tag and we can see what engine it's supposed to have too.

Looks like it's either a 273 or 318.

Did they have a 2-barrel version of the 273???
Actually, I just answered my own question. They had one up until 1970 it looks like.

Yes they did, and that car is a pre 70 based on the fender tag layout.

that looks one of those "viper" motors everyone is talking about. red valve covers..... yup that's got to be it.
