Exactly, thats why I want to know. I'm only running 1000watts RMS and its just killing my battery. Everytime the bass hits my rpms drop (at idle) or when I'm driving my lights dim. I'm also running a 2 farad cap. If I could find a better alt I would run another 1000watts but as it is I can bearly run just 1000.

Only your lights are dimming?? That is usually not amperage problems. I run about 1400watts rms and no dimming at all. The smart thing would be upgrade your big 3 battery cables to same size as amp power cable, get a Optima Yellowtop. Ditch the Cap all they do is add extra strain on the alternator.

My headlights dim, along with interior lights, dash lights and the engine rpms drop.

+ I would like to run another alpine 1000 watt amp to power another type x 12 but I'm sure my stock electrical system right now couldn't handle 2000w RMS

It should handle one, but two your gonna need a bigger alternator for sure. Like I said do a Optima, and upgrade big 3 and your dimming will go away on the one. As for two amps, I would get the Optima, do big 3, and get a 150A alt or higher.

Where can you get a bigger alternator from, I have went in to some local shops and they say there is no such thing for a Neon. I am trying to find one for an 2005. I thought I read somewhere that some SRT4's had a 120 amp alternator, and suposedly some SXT's with a SRT4 package came with those too. My information is porbably incorrect but it gives me hope.

i while back i had a 2400 watt rms audiobahn high current amp running 4 audiobahn flame q 12's and two orion extreem 500.4's running all my interior speakers in my neon....i also had a yellow top optima battery and upgraded the grounds in the engine compartment, plus there was a 1 farad digital cap and a .5 farad non digital and i was running 0 gauge wire with a 250 amp anl fuse....it all worked fine for a while with the stock alternator and the optima batt., but then it started messing up my car real bad...when i would drive down the road it would just die, then start back up..over and over again..so i went to farm and fleet to bring back the battery and the said that the yellow top is not ment to run a vehicle, it is supposed to be used as an auxiliary battery in the trunk only(stereos, hydraulics, etc.) they said that you are supposed to use the red top if you are going to run the car with it...so i replaced it with a cheap battery from the junk yard and i stopped having any problems

Look in your local yellow pages for a shop that rebuilds alternators. When I had my system I brought a junkyard alternator to the shop near me and they bumped it from I think 80 amps to 150 or something in my Monte carlo for like $100. Also I am not sure if they make one for the neon, but check out stinger alternators.
