Diagnosis of '97 sunroof problems should be similar for your '98. A chapter from the service manual covering this is posted at:
http://www.neon-owners.org/neon/tech...997/EPL_23.PDF

Likewise, the instructions for debugging electric windows are posted at:
http://www.neon-owners.org/neon/tech...997/EPL_8S.PDF

I've found the Haynes Neon manual to be a great value and highly recommend it. Though it is not likely to cover 100% of the things you need to know - especially when you get into problems with the sunroof and other power options.

i have read posts on getting the rear 6x9's out, mine are blown, but i can't seem to get to them. I was thinking maybe i was reading directions for 99-04 so if anyone can give me really good directions or a link it will be greatly appreciated.

You don't need a torx bit to get the rear seat out. Th ebottom just pulls up, pull a little harder if it's the first time it's coming out. The back of the seat is also just clipped in, just pull up on it.

And I don't really recommend the Haynes or Chilton's for anythign major. It's a good reference but other than that it's pretty useless. I'd go with eht Service manual directly from the dealer. It costs about $100 but pays for it's self in the long run and is well worth the extra $$ spent on it.

You do need a Torx bit to get the bottom part off. It's holding the seat and the seat belt clips down. Just pulling it will only get you red in the face.

i knew the bottom of the seat comes out with pulling but are you sure the back of the seat just pulls off? b/c it looks like the seat belt things being held in wiht the torx bit is what s keeping the seat on...

lemme try pulling it off...

Yes, I'm positive that the back of the seat pops out. The torx bolts hold the seatbelts to the floor, that's all.
