It's ok Sharx.... the truck is still intact. I think I would be more heart broken if I'd have wrecked it. A motor is buildable and repairable. Trying to get a wrecked anything to look new again it very hard.

As I said... it does suck but, it's not a grannymobile and I like to have fun. Fun sometimes can be expensive. :-)

I believe you're right. I'll post some pics when I get the head off.

If I find it's that bad.... I'm going to buy a new crate motor. The cost I found was much cheaper than a rebuild. I'd prefer not to have a reman either since the truck is so new.

I have pull the oil pan yet or cut open my filter. With the signs I'm having I figured, why bother. The damage is obvious.

Yeah me too. I'm on my own with this. No one I know, knows anything about diesels or do they care. There are no diesel shops in my area and I really wouldn't trust anyone to do the work right.

I'm learning real quick on diesel mechanics. I'm finding there's not a whole lot to it. These motors are very easy to work on. Just getting past the intimidation of not doing it before is the hard part. I have a service manual which make it a whole lot easier.

True, the deciding factor is how bad the cylinder is. At least you got one hell of a trophy for the wall, whether your proud of it or not.

That's one way of looking at it. I was kinda proud for running a 14.0 in a 9000lbs truck on 37's.
The Camaro I beat didn't like it too much ;-)

I figured if I buy a new motor, I can part this one out and make a good amount of money back. That way I won't be out of pocket as much as I could be.
