Have a new 06 2 months ago, seeing rust between box overlap on top front.
Man, it took 5 years to see this on my 98.
I hope this is not a cheeped up new metal idea.....

 

go back to the dealer if its under warranty. it should not rust at all with the new paints and seal coats they use!!!

the warranty is there for you to use!!!!


not to be snooty, but my 93 has NO rust on it! ok so its an Arizona desert truck!!!

 

We didn't get into winter yet, Its a leftover new 06.
I think the warr covers rust thru, last I heard.
My 98 held up well for these conditions.
I had to do under the doors with epoxy primer and re-paint , but thats OK in 9 years.

If it's like any normal Dodge vehicle, it should have like the same warranty as the truck has against rust... or maybe even a 5yr/50,000 mile warranty....

I know mine has something against rust.... just don't remember what it is...

Yea I grew up in MN so growing up my buddies and I had always thrown around the idea of line-x ing a truck and now that I've actually seen it done I like the idea even more. My 02 is starting to show a little, but it is only in the places where the paint has been dinged by rocks or doors.

Im on the coast of the pacific. Lots of salt air. Mine is bout 8 months old, no rust yet on the body

 

wingit- I know exactly what you are talking about, I think.... My old 06 had that too, just were the bed over lapped, on top, at the front. I'm not entirely sure it was the truck bed or welds or whatever rusting though. It was orange/red color. It wiped off and never came back. My four wheeler had the same stuff (whatever it is) it was off of the metal rack, but had dripped down on to the plastic, again it wiped right off. It really looked like something was rusting, and then the "rust water residue" dripped down onto the plastic.Not sure, but it wiped off of the truck and the four wheeler both and has never come back so I'm happy.

 

From what my dealer said- the 06 has a 5yr/100,00 mile rust-through warrenty. Never got into if it was just painted body parts and/or chromed parts.
