I have a 1500 and looking to trade for the mega cab with a 5.9 Cummins, But the locals talk ill of the "Goat" saying there are a lot of problems with transmition, injectors, etc. and only the dealer can fix some of the problems due to software.

I've got to havea 2500 diesel, can anyone help? Thanks

anyway, the only issues that have been seen thus far of the "Goat" have been some turbo's taking a dump quite early, regen issues(usualy takes just an ECM flash to fix) and a few idiot lights poping up early.

past that no tranny issues or injector problems that I have seen or heard of.

 

The only prblem I know of the 07 Mega is that there isn't one sitting in my driveway

Also if you get an 07 or newer than MOST of those problems don't even matter anyways.... well with the lifetime power train warranty they are covered..... Just make sure you bring it in every 6 months for a checkup....

 

that lifetime warranty does not apply to these trucks[:'(]

What i've heard about the new 07's is that. Went to a car show the other night in my friends dads Gmc 4500 top kick... all the guys who had ford and dodge diesels came over and complained to him about there trucks... yeah ford makes a **** product so we know where that stands... the guys with the dodges even the 3500's.. said pulling an 24 foot trailor with nothing even on it makes the truck squat down.. they said the truck makes alot of sqeuakin noises.. the injectors.. trans..

Now with this GMC 4500- He's towing a 38 foot trailor with a 10 thousand pound Diesel and sometimes a El Camino at the same time. The truck doesn't squat one bit. He had no problem with the truck ever....

But my opinon is.. Dodge should just go back to the old style... do everything older again... 12 valve and older body styles... ever since this new generation came out.,.. all i hear was problems

 

Drew, he mentioned the 5.9L. I didn't think the 2007 5.9 had regen. Isn't it the 2007 6.7L that has all of these issues?
