The dealers are under pressure from Cummins. You've seen the Ford/International slugfest after the 6.0 problems.

4x4 thing: Anytime you would need 4wd (i.e. snow, mud, sand, etc.) driving in that environment will void your warranty. As long as your 4wd truck doesn't leave dry pavement and is maintained by DC, you will be fine.
It says in my owners manual specifically not to use 4x4 on dry pavement. So I'd ask Dodge WTF?
