Default Bad Mpg

My little goat and I drove to cali. today. the bed is full of tools but no trailer. The worst I got was 12 mpg and the best was 17 Mpg (all hand calculated) but I estimate that the average was around 14. I had a hell of a head wind and didn't go easy on the truck kept it around 75 to 80 mph but it still seems kinda bad. What do you guys think.

I don't know what you normally get but I think that is not too bad especially fighting the wind.

12 not so good, 17 is respectable. How many miles on her now? Tires aired up good? Did it change real bad after buying different fuel? Some stations fuel makes my truck run crappy and get bad mileage while others is does well with. Watermelon and I both like Exxon diesel, it just seems to run better on it.

It usually gets around 17 on the highway and 14 in the city

I did get alot better after the first two fill ups. Shell usually does well and Pilot got 17.

I say you were right on looking at the wind resistance.

head wind plus the load is going to equal crappy mileage... last time I went to WA unloaded I had a nasty headwind and averaged low 14's. I'd say your getting what you should be given the load, wind and added wind drag the load is adding.

Ithink ya did alright.. once i get into that 75-80 range mileage goes south pretty quick.. add in the head wind and load.. 14avg aint so bad..

My last tank was split evenly highway and town.. flat roads.. not too much wind..I got 18.3 hand calced..

I'mseriously considering the wheel well liners myself.. it would quiet those rocks when they fly out of the treads.. and look much better too
