i know i have a ballcock on the bottom of the canister to drain water i don't think there is a valve on top. my truck is at the dealer now having the 15000 mile service done. oil, axle fluids, tire rotation. i had them hold off on the fuel filter when they told me $80.00. also i thought 15000 miles on axle fluids is a little rediculus, but that is what the service recomendations says.
I guaruntee it will not be 80 dollars hard to do it yourself. get your Rig back, and look for the canaster. tehre should be the drain, and a bolted top one piece. talkes me less than 15 minutes start to finish. and cost less than 20 for the parts.
The premium filter is $25 from genosgarage (the MOPAR filter is $10). It looks like if you drain it, the whole bottom of the canister screws off and gets replaced.
wonder how much of that $80 is the EPA charges for having to 'dispose' of the diesel
The sad thing is when I take my used oil and filters to my local recycler I don't have to pay for disposal, it's just another charge the dealer passes on to you for being their valued customer.[:@]
