5.9 or 6.7? Either way, at 80 mph, you'll get less than 16

Dang really. I had a 02 with edge and I would get 17-18... I thought these newer ones were doing better...

Lets assume for this purpose the 6.7

6.7L engine is not getting the same mileage as the 5.9L. Biggest culprit is the emissions equipment and the extra fuel for regeneration.

Also, don't get the 4.10 gear unless your going to haul real heavy. It will only reduce your MPG more.

On the bright side, the 6-speed automatic kicks a$$!

I drove my cousins to Kentucky and it was running a 1000 RPM less at 75 than my 5.9, but the mileage sucked compared to mine, I get 19 easy on the road at 75 or 80, and the best he did was 16 MPG or less.

Why go 80mph just leave 10min sooner drive 65 and get 1-2 mpg better fuel mileage.

IMO... if you can still get a 5.9... go for it. too much emission garbage on the 6.7 IMO.

I have the new 6.7 Mega cab w/4WD and 3.73 and have 6000 miles on the motor. Just ran from Yuma over to Malibu and back, about 700+ miles at 65-70 mostly interstate and the computer ended up registering 19.7 and when I filled at the starting point the 38 gallons I could get into the tanks divided out at 18. According to every one I talk to the milage is supposed to increase as I get towards 20,000 miles on the truck.
And the 6 spd automatic is AWESOME coupled with the brakeing system I pull my 35' 5th wheel with ease. The milage suffers but is still running around 10 to 11 and that beats the heck out of my previous brand F.
I think I would search for a 2006 Mega Cab Larimie with the 5.9L and that way get the extra room with the more fuel efficiant engine but you also give up the new 6 auto and I don't know if you gain enough milage to offset the performance this new engine/tranny isgiving me. I love it.
Good luck on your choice.
