Default My untimely death is now certain ...

My ladyfrined thinks I'm going through a mid life. I say I'm finally finding time to do things that I like to do

Whatever ...

Anyway, I just had delivered my hot new skateboard. It's a Mystery deck, Krux trucks, Reds bearings, and Ricta wheels. Unfortuantely, like the title says, I'm afraid that it's just a matter of time until I kill myself on this thing. It is HOTT !! Back in the day I used to ride all of the time and I went to the skateboard park ( made out of cement [:@]) on Sundays. Unfortunately the park was closed for insurance reasons ( go figure ) and after a while we all got cars and that was that.

About 2 weeks ago my ladyfriend wanted me to take her to the mall which I did. I hadn't been to this mall in quite sometime. As she was going in and out of EVERY store, I decided to do my own thing and cruise the mall on my own. There at the very end of the mall was a skateboard park. I never knew it was there. I sat there and watched those kids for about 2 hours. After leaving,I couldn't get it out of my head, and WA-LA, I now have a board of my own.

Look out Tony Hawk !!

Good Lord. Have your ladyfriend shoot some video of you in action and post it up. Jimmy says its getting boring around here, that should liven it up a bit.

I'd hurt my back just thinking about getting on a skateboard.

LMAO! dude. I am 21, and Ill tell you what, skateboarding takes alot out of you. Especially trying to land tricks. I used to do the skateboarding thing back in HS, but then I got a bicycle. Much more efficient mode of transportation. Good luck. If you actually stick with it, here is a link to buy all your gear without having to go back to the mall. If your gonna do it, do it right, get the shoes and the t shirts and all that. I think your lady friend is right, mid life crises. Here are some tips though:
Hook-Ups decks are pretty cool looking, and they pop good, but they break easy. Zero Decks are pretty much the strongest, but also the heaviest. I have never ridden an Enjoi, but I heard they are good. My favorites were Santa Cruz, "Skateboading is not a crime" deck.

LOL ... I didn't get my board from the mall, I got it here

WAREHOUSE

As far as shoes go, I've always worn board shoes. Right now I have my Etnies on, yesterday my Vans, and Monday I had my Fallen shoes on.

I've been trying to Ollie here in the office, and I can get it to pop, but nowhere near the height that I used to. Maybe as high as a soda can .... SIDEWAYS !!

Skateboarding isn't new to me, it's kinda re-discovered. I'm familiar with Zero boards, and Mystery boards and Zero are one in the same. Both made by Zero. I knew they were a tad heavy, and that's why I went with the Krux trucks over Independent. Krux are lighter, but both are made by Independent.

What's kinda new to me though are these Ricta wheels. They weren't around back in the day, at least I don't remember them. I used to use Kryptonics ( remember those ). I got the 52's because I wanted to stay low to the ground ... less of a fall.

No, it's not a mid life crisis. The way I figure it, it takes this long to finally afford to do all the crazy things we wanted to do when we were 21, broke, and had no health insurance! Maybe get some pics/video right away before you wind up killed. I remember riding down the grassy side of and overpass with a 10-spd bike just to see if we could make it thru the ditch and into the fence......maybe I'll just let this one stay a memory.[&:]

LOL ... your bike story reminds me of one of my own

About 5 years ago "The Boy" had himself a Razor scooter. You know, one of those two wheeled chrome things. Well ... I decided to take it fora spin. I did just fine up and down the driveway, so Idecided to see how well I did on a hill

BIG Mistake !!

This hill was mammouth. So big so, that even the kids didn't dare try it. So I went to the top, and started my descent. I made it about 2/3 rds of the way down and I hit a stone. Unfortunately, with my weight, windspeed, and direction of travel, that little stone sent meflying right over the handlebars headfirst onto the street. I broke my fall with my hands, which were now ground down to the core, but luckily saved by my 3 chunky silver bracelets that I had on. I figure I left about $18.00 worth of silver in the street that day.

I don't want to even type skateboard, let alone get on one. I have not ridden a skateboard in 25 years. And even then I wouldn't say that I was riding it but more like standing on it and letting gravity do the work. But then my board was 1 inch thick wood and the word "ollie" referred to a comedian and not a trick. And the word tail grab also had a totally different meaning..
