Default OT Whoops

I live on a rural road, very little traffic. Anyways I watch this car travel up and down the road several times. It pulls into my drive once (fairly long driveway) turns around and takes off. Needless to say this gets my attention as I had been watching him drive up and down the street a couple minutes earlier. Well it isnt more then a minute later he pulls back into the driveway and backs the car up towards the garage. Now hes got my full attention. I grabbed the 45-70gov sitting just inside my bedroom door. Just as a come down the stairs I heard a knock at the door.He was no thief, just a pizza delivery boy who was lost. Boy you shoulda seen the look on his face when he seen me through the front door window carrying that lever action.

Yeah it's a marlin mod 1895GS scout edition so it has the short 15.5" barrel. And I never order delivery pizza. I'll just swing by papa murphys on the way home if I want some.

man those guide series have a kick with the "regular" barrel. Love the stainless and walnut I got my dad an 1895 XLR about two years ago and I bought a 336 30-30 for me http://photos-e.ak.facebook.com/phot...77908_3567.jpg. Cant beat a marlin lever action, I think they feel better than almost any winchester. Have you seen the garrett loads for them? Total beasts http://www.garrettcartridges.com/products.asp

Papa Murphys rocks!!!!

glad to know someone else answers their door with a gun. I leave a shot gun by the door, got just about 1 gun for every room in my house + a pistol and shotgun in the truck, cause you never know when youre gonna see an illegal in south texas. HA!

Those are some nice rounds, I may have to try them out next bear seasonI should mention that I also have a marlin 336w 30-30 Looks identical to yours except my stock is a little lighter from age. Also got a winchester 45lc (hate the action, marlin is 5000 times better). That 45-70 sure packs one heck of a kick though. I've been using these rounds in it lately and they seem to group pretty good even with the short barrel. I may try some handloads to dial it in better.

Those hornady rounds are pretty nice; I've had pretty good results with them too. I was a little nervous about using them for the first time, even with the plastic tips. I havent been on their site for a while, but I read that they had decreased the muzzle velocity of them as well as the energy.

Could have been worse. I could have reached behind the headboard if I had a little more time
