Default Auto transmission service Question

I have 25k miles on my 06 Dodge 3500. I use it to tow a 44' Enclosed race car trailer , maybe 6 time a year.
I am getting ready to take it in to the Dealer to change the Trannie fluid,do you guys think i should also have them change the trannie filter.

yeah why not, I wouldnt want to wait till the 60k mile change to do the filters.

Have you considered putting in amsoil?

Also a lot of mechs are pushing for a machine flush using a machine called t tech. Its supposed to clean it where the old filters are as good as new but I don't buy that.

I'd have them change the filter and flush the torque converter to make sure you get all the old fluid out. JMHO

No i have not consider using the amsoil fluid, being that i am not changing it myself.I am sure the dealer will use Mopar fluid.
I am not having any problems with the trannie, but just trying to Maintain it.

With only 25K on it there is no reason to pay them to flush it unless you have burnt the fluid in it. All they need to do is drop the pan and install a new filter and top it off with new ATF+4 fluid.

If you are having the pan dropped anyway, now would be the time to upgrade to a synthetic fluid such as Amsoil or Royal Purple, and add on a deeper pan with cooling fins. Sure, you dont have any problems now but a cooler transmission, is a longer lasting transmission.

4x4fantasy,

Has RP finally started making an ATF+4 fluid for Dodge trans? I know last year they still had not made an ATF+4 trans fluid!

for that $350 you can get yourself some good synthetic ATF+4 and a new pan. do it yourself.

besides, the cooler you keep that tranny fluid, the longer the trans will live and the happier it will be.

My dealership charges $159.00 for a trans service so your dealership is saying that it cost $191.00 more to flush the trans, what a rip off.
