I’m not trying to get in a pissing match over this but it is well known that some stupid Judge has allowed the oil companies to sell highly refined and or hydro cracked oil as Synthetic oil. Because of what the Judge said not all oil labeled as synthetic are not even close to being equal to what Redline or Amsoil nor any of the other higher rated synthetic oil that is sold i.e., Royal Purple, Schaeffer’s etc, all it has to do is mimic synthetic in some ways to be legally called synthetic oil.

DBLR, No pissing going on with me. I am just trying to learn me something. Its kinda like watching the news. They only tell you what THEY wont you to know and only one side of the story. Or only the results they excel on.I was just trying to see the other side . But all BS aside, For the cost and the fact I change my oil every 7500k I think its good stuff and you cant go wrong.

I have been running Rotella since 1996, when i bought my 1 ton, and love it. The truck now has 250,000 and never had any problems (except the a/c compressor last week) but i also change the oil between 3000 - 4500 miles. Its easy to find and most every diesel owner down here runs it. I am not poor and i still use it. [sm=smiley20.gif]

I just bought my 2006 2500 QC w/26K miles on itdo you think I should go ahead and get oil changed? If so what will be the best synthetic oil to use. AMSOIL sounds pretty solid how many quartz will my truck hold, what price am I looking to spend on an oil change, and what type of oil and fuel filter will be needed too? I just sold my gas Dodge Ram 1500 and bought the diesel truck. First time driving a diesel Dodgetruck. I own big 18 wheelers but that is a different story.

Please advice.

Your engine holds 3 gallons = 12 quarts of oil. Use Fleetguard LF16035 Stratopore oil filter. Never use any FRAM filter on your engine as they do not hold up in Cummins diesel engine. If you become a Amsoil perfered customer then you can buy Amsoil at discount prices.

Welcome aboard Salsero !!

The guy's here who run it, like the Amsoil, so you're fine there. As far as how much your engine holds, it takes 3 gallons including filling up the new filter. As far as filters go, most of us pick up the Fleetguard filters at Geno's. genosgarage.com.

What else ya got for me ??

Thanks DBLR, and MAYFAIR. I called my local Dodge dealer in my hometown they are charging me $70.00 for a synthetic oil change using Mobil1 oil. Is this a decent price? Like I said I was used to my 04 Dodge 1500 gasser???

Mobil1 5w40 is Delvac1 5w40 that has been relabled, if you can find a mobilsource you canbuy the Delvac1 for approx $16~$20 per gallon. Ihave extensive experience with it and it is an exceptional oil!

ORIGINAL: BLEWMONEY

MOBIL-1 HAS A 5W40, CHRYSLER PART NUMBER 68001332AA THAT IS APPROVED BY CUMMINS AND IS DIESEL OIL.
I USE IT AND GET IT FROM MY LOCAL DODGE DEALER FOR $7.79 A QUART.
