Default leveling kit

okay, i know this topic has been gone over more than a couple times. i searched for the info, but i couldn't find it. my question is.. Would it be possible to run 36x14.50's with a leveling kit, or will i deffinitely have to step it up a bit? i know it will fit 35's, but im fairly stuck on the 36's because i really need a high load capacity and want some decent offroading capabilities. the TSL radial offers a 3640lb load capability in the 36x14.50R16.5's. so please let me know what the best alternative would be. thanks.

I can almost guarantee that 36's won't fit. I have 35's using only a leveling kit andI had to trim some plastic panels and "adjust" the lower section of the front fenders.

i agree with dieselram. i believe 33's are as big as you can go without some fender mods. you are likely looking at a 4" lift or more to run 36's, especially 14.50's.

okay, thanks guys, that answered my question fairly quickly! now i have one more...
If i get the 4 inch lift with 36x14.50's will i have to do any fender mods, or do you think i would be alright?

I'm running 35's with a levelling kit (KORE) and have only minor rubbing issues (pass. side tire on lower control arm at full lock). I'd recommend looking at other tires. I'm running Toyo Open Country M/T's which are E-rated and do come in a 35x12.50 for either a 17 or 18" wheel and have very high ratings. I've found them to be very good for mild to moderate offroading with mostly street use.

you shouldn't have any problems with 36's and a 4" lift.

any of the lift manufacturers can tell you exactly what will rub and what mods might need to be done. your choice of rims will also come into play, because backspacing may be different with different styles

i went with the 2" leveling kit and 33x12.50's on a 17x9 rim. i did not want too much added height since i use mine for towing my toys a lot. my rims have the same backspacing as factory(i can't recall what it is right now), but they are a little wider than the factory rims. i also added longer shocks. they tell you this is not necessary, but it is recommended. if you leave the factory shocks on and somehow flex the front out to full extension, you run the risk of pulling the shock apart(not likely, but i have actually seen it).

one thing to keep in mind as Drew has pointed out is that the ball joints on the AAM are suspect and any lift/bigger tire combo adds stress to them.

just my opinions

You know, I have the same rub and I couldn't figure out where it was touching. I'll have to look at that when I get home. I have the Open Country A/T's in 35x12.50R20.
