I just bought a Big Horn edition with Sirius satelite and love it. However the bass bottoms out easily and the highs aren't very clear (too much mid bass). I'm no audiofile, but I am spoiled with a great home theatre in my basement. I'd like to rip out the stock speakers and upgrade to the best I can short of putting in a subwoofer. I'd like to hear what others have done and what equipment / speakers drop in with little work.

 

we put in a couple of mtx box speakers self contained with an amp and deleted the rear speakers all together fronts are stock and are ok but nee upgraded no amp on them. any stereo place can hook them up but they will all say it will sound bad but they just want to sell you more stuff

 

Replace all the factory speakers with properly matched, Infinity products. Kappa Perfect Series. Like 693.7I for 6x9's or 653.7I for 6.5 round. Don't be afraid to put the power to them. They LOVE it.....lol. If you're a rocker more than a rapper, I'd go with a single, or dual, 10 inch subs. Dual voice coil and a moderate excursion. Again, put the power to it.

If you're putting in a new head unit also, Alpine is the way to go.

I forgot to say i'm cheap and want to spend the money on performance for the megacab and my charger R/T I put in mine myself and it cost around 150.0 for the speakers and 110.00 for the amp (older jensen amp) but i'm pleased.

 

they make speaker/subwoofer boxes that fit under the back seat, u can get them for like $150. My last truck, I replaced the speakers with Infinity speakers, and they sounded very good. I have a 10" Bazooka from my old truck that I wish I could put in my quadcab, but it wond fit under the seat, so for now I'm just gonna enjoy it the way it is. To be honest, I don't really listen to the radio much, the ctd sings beautiful music to me

Brent78 - did your Big Horn also have the upgraded Infinity system with the satellite? I'm curious, because mine has the ability to adjust bass, mid-range, and treble - and at volume setting #30 I have no distortion, and crisp highs. I can't imagine wanting to go much louder - and I did a lot of rock concerts a decade ago or so (well...) so don't have the best of hearing, but still feel like I have plenty of volume with good sound. If you have the Infinity and it's as you mention, I would think something might be wrong. (or maybe they forgot to install the upgraded components?)

 

mine came with the sirius sattelite, but I'm not sure about the infinity. I'm probably going to have my front and door speakers changed out eventually, and have highs mounted high on the pillar next to the windshield. I did this in my old chevy and it sounded awesome.

 

It came with Sirius, but no infinity sound unfortunately. I can adjust the bass, mid and trebble. I'm assuming my stereo deck is the same as the infinity system (can anyone verify?) If so, I should be able to throw in some infinity speakers and be done with it.

 

get on Crutchfield and type your truck in and it will tell you what speakers and harnesses to get.
