Default Another ? about (auto) Trany temp gauges

I have heard/read that there are different locations for the temp sensor for trany temps, I think ( IMO ) that if there is an inline before the trany cooler that this would be the best one.

What do you have and where does the sensor mount?

Any and all opinions welcomed on this on please.

Thanks
Ralph

I too have been told to install it in the line going to and some where before the tranny cooler. How it's done or if they make a part to fit in line I have no clue. Maybe the minds will have some idea once they awake from their nap.

if I remember there is a 'T' in the line leading to the tranny from the cooler or to the cooler, cant remember, that a probe can be screwed into to see the temp of the fluid.

Have a look at this, it is an oem cooler linewith a fitting for a tranny temp sender port.

or like this? have to adapt the lines but you can put it in-line with the tranny cooler lines.

Doesn't the tranny have spare port on the passenger side, above the pan. I could swear I have seen one on every single tans I've been under.

More than likely, I'm wrong..........

Good luck.

So if you did put the sending unit inline of the supply side to the cooler, what would be the max temp you would be comfortable seeing?

Depends on how high it gets. My old tranny used to climb to 220 when pulling hard. My new tranny and tc haven't climbed above 195 out of lock up yet. In lockup I am seeing temps of 110-120 on the highway and 130-140 around town.

If you hit the cooler line on the way TO the cooler, that is a good place to monitor.

Good luck.

- pleasure, I like to keep that oem "look", as far as the SM at local dealer is concerned.
BTW, nice ride!
