Im with you Sluggo, I get mine changed every five thousand miles, Iam using Rotella in mine tho.
That's the same exact time line and oil thatI use. every 5 K with Rotella. Hell,I feel guilty waiting THAT long. With my new oil change flipper switch, changing oil will be a sinch. I could probably do it in a tuxedo.

LOL ... should I rent one and try it next time ?? That would be funny. LOL !!

Well, the next oil change i doo will still be the old fashoned way with the drain plug, but this time I'll be replacing the drain plug with the lever plug that I got from Geno's. I can't wait to use it. I plan on just flipping the lever and directing the oil right into gallon conatiners. I shouldn't even need a drain pan anymore. It's gonna be COOL !!

Hey Mayfair, how far down does that new fancy, schmancy drain plug you got there actually stick down.

Reason I'm asking is that I was looking at one for mine, but I was a little concerned about getting it hung up on stuff out in the woods.

I saw the one without the nipple (but I kinda like those ) and it was about 1.5 inches down.

Get some pics when you actually put it on, preferably from the side so I can see reference to the frame rails.

Thanks man!

You know me dude, I'll have pics of every step for ya.

It DOES stick down deeper than the stock plug ( obviously ) but I don't think it'll stick down THAT far. Either way, the lever is a 2 step action. You hafta push out and down at the same time in order to open the valve, so I don't see it accidently opening. I'm sure I'm gonna love it. I went with the nipple version so that I can just slip on a short piece of hose and direct the oil right into the gallon jug. I think it's gonna be cool.

I'm not worried too much about it opening, I'm more concerned with the plug itself catching on something like a log.

Wait a minute, the drain is damn near right between the tires.....

Nevermind, I've started drinking already!

you shouldnt have a problem with clearance on it... if your getting THAT close to anything strong enough to do damage, it wont matter what you have there...

Ahhhh, you know...if it can go wrong, it will.

I try to put it into this perspective. Is the convienence or advantage of something worth the possible damage or risk?

It that whole cost vs benefit thing. Is it really that time consuming for me to use my ratchet to open the drain plug? No. Do I do it often enough to justify needing an easy open drain? No. Is it cool and I'd just like it? Yes!
