Default oil change info...

hey guys & gal(s)... read this... says the CTD oil change interval is 15k...

"Every Cummins 610 Turbo Diesel is designed for simple, easy maintenance. A single top load fuel filter with heater and water-in-fuel sensor has 15,000-mile (24,000 km) change intervals which match the oil and oil filter change schedule. You have the option of using either CI-4 or CH-4 engine oil at the stated intervals. If CI-4 or CH-4 oils are not available you can use CG-4 oil, but you will have to reduce your drain intervals to 7,500 miles (12,071 km). Valves need to be checked for adjustment at 150,000 miles (240,000 km). "

I thought I read in the manual that it was still 7500 mi between changes... maybe I just cant read? [sm=dontgetit.gif] is it 7500 or 15k???

I'm with you Steve I know the manual says 7500 also,
it also says stop and go city driving at 3000 or 3500 miles too.

Severe Service Duty is 7500
Light Service Duty is 15000

I change my oil every 5K cause I am **** (and plan to change my fuel filter every 10K and air Filter every 15K).

That is also when I change mine, as most of the time my round trip mileage is under 15 miles a day, I'd love to change over to Amsoil next time but I'm not sure I could justify the price changing it that often.

I was going to be on the 10k plan with the amsoil and their endurance filter... now with the bypass... maybe I'll go for the 15k...

I'm using the amsoil now and plan to take it to 15K miles, but I am also doing oil analysis for my own peace of mind.

If you do 75% stop and go driving then I would not go over 7500 miles unless you do oil analysis that said your oil was still good for longer use. Stop and go, along with short trips where you drive under ten miles with the engine not up to 10% operating temps is one of the hardest things on oil thus the need to change out at 7500. Depending on the quality of the filters you use it may be a good idea to change oil filters at 3750 miles if you do 85% stop and go driving.

Me-? - City driving and long haul towing- safe precaution on my end to change every 6k miles. (why haven't I done that yet?) Truck usually runs so good- I don't want to mess with it! LOL.Changing oil theis weekend. Mine said 7500 miles in the manual but there are some people in the shops here that run 11k miles- no problems yet. Of course there not using FRAM[:'(]filters but I think its the Amsoil.
