Miguey, call a friendly Dodge Dealer or go online and check do not rely on
us to say yes or no!
Seems both those 3.9s should fit your van but trust me with the amount of work
before you, check on your own from a Dodge Dealer you trust that those engines fit!!
Hello, My dad has a 1988 dodge ram van 3.9 v6 and the engine is already bad all over and i was wondering what other engine can i use thats a simple swap? thanks!
I'm not a mechanic professionally but I do a lot of salvage work and I am ASE certified. The Dodge B350 I own has a v-8 in it, the unibody for that year should fit up to that size engine. Transmission will be your biggest concern. It is a unibody though, so you could disengage the entire chassis and lift the body off the engine and chassis entirely with the proper hoist. Easiest for a whole engine/transmission swap. Definitely replace the engine no matter what, it's a dodge, if the engine is done so is the transmission. Go to an insurance salvage company like LKQ and get a warrantied salvage engine for $300-400, same with transmission. Get the right mounting for your engine. There are YouTube videos on this, watch all of them.

As this thread is ten years old, I would hope he got it fixed quite some time ago.....
