I found an ECM for my 97 from Flagship One for $170, they programed it and I have had no issues yet. They ask for your VIN and send it out to you. I believe mine was free shipping.

YES, THE ECU IS INTERCHANGEABLE!!!
The ECU came today and I installed it with no problems. I had a 56028547 which is for a 1995 B3500 van and replaced it with a 56028272 from a 1995 Dodge 1500. Both have a 5.2l V8 with an automatic with overdrive. It starts easy, runs smooth, cruise control and overdrive button work as they should. I would guess the emissions are the same as they both are the same year. time will tell. The big difference is that I couldn't find one without paying a huge price for a used one. Oreilly and Autozone could not get them or get mine rebuilt. Cardone was no help directly. And the 1500 ECUs are plentiful. The ECU from the pickup was 1/6th what they wanted for my original number.
