Default ECM for 95 5.2l auto van

I'm having no luck finding an ECM model 56028347 for my 95 B3500 van with 5.2l, auto trans. Would another model work say from a pickup same year, with the same motor and trans ? thanks

I see them once in a while in a Pull Your Part junk yard.

They say they do but they can't get them. My question would an ECU from a truck with the same engine and transmission work?

95 Dodge Ram ECM engine control module 56028272

thanks.

I see threads that people change engines but not ECUs and they work. my Question is as stated above. I bought one on Ebay,it didn't work and had to send it back. I'm reluctant to do it again. I'm just buying someone else's old crap.

You can send yours out for repair, then it's guaranteed to work.

It's rare that they go bad but it does happen. If it is guaranteed to work from the seller you shouldn't have a problem. The pcm's back then where based off the part # for what motor trans etc.. One digit off could be for a different motor/trans so you need to get the same part #. A lot of the places on the web don't even list stuff that old anymore so you have to contact them.

I found an ECM for my 97 from Flagship One for $170, they programed it and I have had no issues yet. They ask for your VIN and send it out to you. I believe mine was free shipping.

YES, THE ECU IS INTERCHANGEABLE!!!
The ECU came today and I installed it with no problems. I had a 56028547 which is for a 1995 B3500 van and replaced it with a 56028272 from a 1995 Dodge 1500. Both have a 5.2l V8 with an automatic with overdrive. It starts easy, runs smooth, cruise control and overdrive button work as they should. I would guess the emissions are the same as they both are the same year. time will tell. The big difference is that I couldn't find one without paying a huge price for a used one. Oreilly and Autozone could not get them or get mine rebuilt. Cardone was no help directly. And the 1500 ECUs are plentiful. The ECU from the pickup was 1/6th what they wanted for my original number.
