Default Lift Kits?

I own a 2004 hemi QC4x4 and was wondering if anyone in here knew about lift kits...since this is a dodge forum I believe most of you should. First off, will a lift kit void any part ofmywarranty? Second...are there any particular lift kit brands that are "better" than the rest? And last of all...what kind of milage will i lose by installing a 2..4..6..or even an 8 inch lift.

Default Lift Kits?

I have heard alot of good things about getting a skyjacker lift, kinda pricey, but well worth the money. As for your mileage, well there are a number of different variable's to consider. Tires is a big one. Bigger tires the more distance traveled, per rotation, but also the more hp needed to turn them. Have already been told by a number of people that the new hemi is a real good gas guzzler, so you might just break even either way. Hope this helps or points you in the right direction to ask questions to a more qualified person than me, lol

Default Lift Kits?

Thanks for the help...by the way it's a 1500...not a 2500 or 3500. So the lift kits should be cheaper right? Also...do you know of any lift kits that are adjustable?Like a lift that I can have set at 2 inches and moce it up to 4 if i want?

Default Lift Kits?

Well lift kits are a tricky thing for sure. For example lift kits "usually fall into the category of "you get what you pay for". From personal expierience that ispretty much true. More often than not a lift kit looks attractive because of its price first, then its overall quality second. Spending a little moremoney up front will save you moneyin the long run. A kitthat uses a better design to achievethe lift will notgive you problems laterdue to pre-mature wear onyourcomponents.

As for voiding your warranty, if youask a service rep at adealership he/she will say "yes!" before you get a chance to finish. I read an article thatI thought I saved regarding anew law that was to bepassed reagarding voidingwarranties due to aftermarket parts. For exampleif you were to take your truck in for a brake calliper sticking, the service department can notvoid the warranty because you have a lift kit. Theyhave to prove beyonda shadow of a doubt that the problem is directly related to or caused bythe liftkit. I don't know ifthisis or will be implemented, maybye someone can chime in thathas actuallyexpierienced this.

Your gas mileage will be affected!, especially if you have the HEMI! Like it was mentioned above, bigger tires= more rotational mass=more effort for the truck to move them. What gear ratio does your truck have now? Changing the gear ratio may help get some of your factory type characteristics and fuel mileage but not by much. It is the downside of lift kits.Your truck will look awesome, but willCO$T you in initial cost and maintenance. It is wellworth it! Ranchomakes a good lift kit but is only a 4". It uses a solidone piecesubframe to drop the differential, along with new cast steering knuckles that allow you to use a largerwheel and tire combo. The kit does this without pushingyour trucks front wheel track outward, and also allows youto use your stock wheels as well.I know I rambled on and on, but its what I do.

With a 3.92 gear ratio, you may be able to use a 4.10, or even a 4.56. The 4.56's may give you problems when the ABS is involved. Some times on the newer vehicles, the ABS sensors trip and causes the truck to run rough or not at all. I am not sure about any of this, you may want to call a transmission shop and get thier input.

Sorry to take so long to get back to you, I have bookmarked this web addy, take a look in here for some prices and compare. Not only do they have skyjacker lifts, but rancho, and a few others that have been mentioned in this forum as well. Ranging anywhere from $500-$3500. Depending on what you want, I have been looking for a lift kit for my 1500 sport. I would shop around online, as well at a local 4x4 performance shop in your area and compare prices. I don't know if I would order online, or just walkin toa retailer and pick it up.Never have been a big fan of ordering online. Kinda old fashion like to see it in person then throw it in the truck bed and drive home. Rather than wait for it to be shipped via mail. Adds a whole newset of difficulties hehehe. But check out this site, it has most of your product info. www.4wheelonline.com Lemme know if in your travels you find another site with more info. As I said I am looking as well.
