Default Blown motor

I;ve got A 2003 ram 1500 4x4 quad cab with 26k miles on it. Last friday I was driving down the road and the motor lost power , started knocking , and then it totally locked up.
The local dealer says that the problem was A broken valve spring , however they are putting A new motor in it. Has anyone heard of this problem before?

Hi Todd -

Sorry to hear about your motor. The more I hang around these forums, the more I hear about broken valve springs. This is a common problem with certain VIN's on 03 Hemi's. Has to do with green and brown coded valve springs during manufacture. But even the correct one's are breaking too. Consider yourself one of the lucky one's, your getting a new motor. Most folks just get the affected spring repaired and Dodge hopes another one doesn't break.
