PLEASE HELP!!!! I have a 2002 Dodge Stratus with the 2.4L DOHC engine. The check engine light has come on a few times over the last month and it felt like it didn't want to shift out of 1st gear. I was always in a 20-30mph zone, so I couldn't be sure but it felt like it was running at a higher RPM than it should. Last night, I was driving home and the car would never shift out of 1st gear. I had it up to about 40mph and it was running at about 4K RPM. I haven't tried to drive it since then because I have a long interstate commute and would die if I had to drive 30mph all the way home. I have found on a few forums that people with this problem changed their input/output sensors on the transmission and it fixed it. Does this sound like it would help my problem? My speedo/tach are fine, no jumping around. It just won't shift!!!!
Forgot to add than when it would do this in the past, it would correct itself and then it would shift fine for a week or so and the check engine light would go off. This was the first time that it did this for an exteneded period of time.
That would only be the first step. Only if the PCM/TCM are in the same module. After that, then road test and see if you have any other problems with transmission.
Well...I replaced the PCM/ECU with a reman one. Check engine light went off and it shifted fine for about 60 miles or so. Now the engine light is back on and it won't shift again. It seems to be idling high when I have it in drive with my foot on the brake. Any suggestions?
